Wait, wait, wait ... did you just say "PING" like on BlackBerry Messenger?
Whoa. |
funny how listing your junk makes a difference. maybe in the end. construction of your enclosure and placement of drivers is more critical. the vehicle your using is another huge issue.
spend all resources on build. if you stick with the hobby you will go through equipment swaps more than rebuilding. pretenders like to show their junk contenders like to hide their equipment. any clown can get high end stuff and get buy. construction and placement and then a good tune and your easily top 3. i guarantee it. the hobby is very weak so competing will be a breeze. |

I would have to rebut by stating that an educated person can articulate their thoughts in print. |

That's like saying, "any clown can construct a sentence".

Allan- Looks like it should sound great once its tuned.:smilie_da
The ONLY things basically set in stone are the BitOne.1, the ML1600 Midbass, the Audison Amps and the fact that it's going to be a 4-way setup. With the newly released Hertz Mille ML700 3" Cone Mid and a newer version of my ML280, I may change the top end around a bit yet.....although judging by the cheaper price of the newer ML280 Mille Tweeters, I am having a difficult time believing they are better than my ML280's that originally sold for over 30% more and have the tuneable rear chambers for FS/Rolloff control. I also want a DVD single-din head unit with Optical out to feed the BitOne....but that's the least of my worries. |

I do however notice that you use the term JUNK when refering to my setup. I guess everyone is capable of having their own opinions. The car in question, although not anything too spectacular, is simply a 1989 Skyline GTR that I am in the process of building as my 'Dream Car' project, which will feature Looks, Sound and Performance. A daily driver capable of 10sec quarter mile passes, yet still comfortable for the odd road trip in the end. I would LOVE for you to share (LIKE I ASKED FOR INITIALLY IN THE THREAD) the system setup that you are currently running. Thanks to those who have replied thus far with tips and advice. Being that I have only really enjoyed this 'hobby' for the last 20 years based on what my ears like, it will be a big change to put together a system that is able to compete with other guys on a different playing field all together. Cheers, Allan |
junk, slang for equipment. not meant as a personal slight.
myself , 4 way system. pretty much everyone goes this route. being able to attenuate each driver independently is the key. each driver has its own channel. so a 4way for me involves 8 amplified channels tweeters and mid on the dash, 6 in the door and 2 subs out back. reading your posts it seems equipment issues, make it hard to settle. every year new stuff comes and goes. as mentioned before and you have confirmed making your enclosure right the first time is key. also consider layout and how easy to take apart and reassemble just incase you need to trouble shoot. make your enclosures standard sizes. save the equipment rollercoaster for the end of the build as you start the tune you can switch this for that, your processor and headunit should stay the same. dont get hung up on equipment choices. any clown can buy nice stuff, the guy that spends his time in the garage on stuff you dont see , building ,tuning always does well. |
