Previously with my stock speakers, at 20 volume, with 'powerfull' eq preset, mid loudness and bass at +2, the sound was perfect with solid bass.

people cofuse what midbass and bass is alot. Midbass is generlly accepted as 80to320hz. what people are expecting is sub bass from a mirange woofer. this isn't midbass.

he crossover on your speaker is does not affect in any way how low your speaker can play. It's just a 12db/octave crssover for the tweeter.

 

The first problem is that comp sets won't play base and the other is that, when buying upgraded speakers, especially a component set, an amp is a requirement.

 

ot entirely true, I've installed plenty of Focal 165V1's into clients cars with some sound deadening and just ehad unit power nd the sound easily surpassed middle end equipment with a 50Wrms amp...it's not a requirement per se.. but it is definately reccomended. You need a very efficient set of speakers to get away with not using a amp.

 

The sound at was muddy. It played (mid)bass and all, but I was not satisfied with the overall sound quality. I wanted something like my klipsch home theater heh
The pionner's play alot clearer then my stock ones (good), but I lost all my bass (not good). Not even a little bit of 'thump'. Just 'rattle" if not HPF'd.


I'm not expecting subwoofer-like sound from those pioneer speakers. I was at least expecting something similar to the stock ones with more defined sound.


I'm debating if I should install an amp, or just put back my stock speakers and rig some kind of tweeter or something... Would come out alot cheaper.


When I'm at your store on monday or tuesday I'll show you how it sounds. I'd like you to recommend a course of a action heh.



Another thing I though is maybe the stock speaker wire is not good enough for my new speakers?

 

I'm not there Monday, tuesday I am though. and whenever you amp something, you really should run at least 16 guage wire. bigger the beter.

 

Any chance that one woofer in the component set is wired out of phase?

 

even if it was those speakers only have about 2.5mm excursion.

 

If your looking for bass and sound quality id throw in a subwoofer that will give u the best of all worlds, even a little 10"

 

I'm as huge a fan of Pioneer as any, and currently my entire system is Pioneer, except my front's and my tweeters, which are the stock (Bose Gold series). I noticed too that when I changed from the stock 6x9's I lost bass, but it's not really a problem because of the subs. Besides, that I have the HPF on my head unit set at I think 80 HZ. You don't actually WANT speakers trying to produce too low a frequency. For one thing it's hard on them, and on top of that it makes the built in amp in your head unit (assuming that's how it's wired) work harder for nothing. Trust me, Pioneer subs MORE than make up for any lack of bass their speakers may have
