Placement

ok im starting my install for sq. I am fiber glassing all my door and kicks.
Question one
should i aim them to the center of the car or towards the driver seat?

question two
Keep the tweeters close to the mids or glass them in to the A pillar

i will be running 4 sets of 6 1/4 components
2 4 channel amps
2 3 way crossovers
2 tens
1 sub amp

now for tuning, RTA or by ear?

1) To do it right you have to listen to it before you glass it all in place. I always start by aiming at the top back corner of the opposite front door window.

2) Again, you have to listen to it to get it right.

3) RTA gets you in the zone but final tweaks should be done by ear.

FOUR SETS of comps??? I'd consider 1 3way set myself..

Make some huge a-pillar pods and aim the speakers at an imaginary place in the middle of the car where no one sits.

1) 4 sets of components is gonna be a nightmare to tune.

2) you need to consider using a Active Processor, and ditching the passive Crossovers are not going to give you much flexibility for speaker placement. and do not have any t/a eq, hp lp, crossovers. phase adjustment ect. amplitude, ect... The best bang for the buck in an active processor would be an alpine 701 with a alpine dvd unit..

3) I would not be putting anything in Doors, it takes more time to make buzzes and resonates out of a door than it does to build a proper set of kickpanels.

4) I would suggest using a 3 way component set, mounting the mids and tweets on the A pillars.

5) I would look at Julians build log, adviter, and Fozz's. they are both world champions and have a very good basis of what proper speaker placement should be in a SQ car.

6) there is no real rule of thumb for where to aim speakers in a car, you need to get some tunes playing, and see what placement sounds best.

Good Luck mang!
