Please help in choosing speakers

Hello

I've installed a Subwoofer recently and I'm aplnning to upgrade my speakers as well.

I have 2 questions to ask;

1- Would it sound ok to put a different model of speaker for front and back? Because I'm planning to put component 2 way in front and a 2 way loudspeaker at the back. Would it still sounds good?

2- I have speacial pricing for Infinity Speakers at my work place. Which combo would you suggest in the Kappa and Kappa Perfect series?

Thanks a lot!

yes it can sound great. Infinity perfect 5.1 or 6.1 front and back if you can, or perfects up front, kappa 2 way in the back. The rears will just be there to compliment the front, so you don't need anything over the top...though, the tonality of the same speakers is always the best way to go. If you get them at reasonable prices, the all perfect system is what I'd go with.

IMO I would spend the extra right now on fronts only, and get the best you can afford. Then if you still think you need rear speakers then when cash flow allows get something decent for the back. This is what I planned on doing until I listened and could not tell there was nothing in the back. So I now have just components in the doors and 2 subs in the trunk and it sounds great.

rear fill, or rear sound is a very personal thing. I can't live without it...and I've been doing this for 20+ years. That said, the best method would be to get fronts first, and yes get the best ones you can afford. Use the stock rears if you have them, and try your system with and without. Many times, the stock rears are more than good enough to remain in the system. One note though, good rear speakers will allow your system to play louder full range than with just fronts. So, if very loud (not just loud bass) is important, then rears can help make your system louder...all other things being equal.

I ended up putting 4x Eclispe SP6900's in my van as I couldn't live without the rear fill. I knew something was missing.

But definitely spend more on the fronts and I would take the perfects if you have the money. I'm not a big fan of the Kappa's but the Perfects are a different story.

^^Then you need to make an appointment to see an audiologist. Big difference with rears on and off, not necessarily good or bad (depends on what you like), but definitely audible. My systems are much louder with rears properly amped and playing full range ( a setting used for getting loud at outdoor parties, the beach, park or street jams etc...). Seriously, you can't hear a difference with 6x9's pumping just a few feet from your ears?

i wouldnt say a few feet away lol.( more like 5 feet behind me ) think of it this way. what way are your ears pointing?? front and sides. not rear. i do hear my rears but not enough to say it sounds better... they are only on and running off the deck just when my kids are in the van. when im alone or with someone in front its fader front all the way.
