power to sub

my sub is a focal 27h power for it 250-500 if you look on the focal site . here is my Q if i run a 1000w amp to it good or bad

i'm looking at this becouse my amp is out getting fixed and i was looking for a new sub for next year .i think i need the amp just becouse i like it , nice, clean and over kill

Nothing wrong with too much power... you can always "dial it down" if need be.

Power doesn't destroy speakers, heat does. If the sub can disipate a lot of heat & you don't play your music into distortion, everything should be fine.

Also, is your amp a TRUE 1000W at the impedance you're using it at?

i was looking at an amp that is TRUE 1000w at 4 oms and i'm looking at getting the focal 27wx or the 27kx
