What's nice about the PPI Art series amps is they are completely void of anything more than the amplification section. That is to say, no bass boost, remote gains, crossovers or other sound processors.

As an old school amp quality was the prime concern, not making a buck and selling out at Best Buy. You'll notice there's a fair amount of these amps out there still, 10-15 years later. That's a good sign of how well built they are, run them within their limits and they'll last nearly forever. I've run the 2150M, 2150AM, ProMos 50, AX400, A404, A600 & A1200's and never had one fail.

I just went back to "old school" myself and am currently installing 4 AM series amps. I used to compete with Orion HCCA back in 90-91, and my buddies were mostly running the PPI AM amps and were cleaning up. Gotta love these things - as A3 says, these are amps and nothing more.

I run nothing but these. I own 4 A600.2's, a A300.2 and an A200.2 all in 2 different cars (summer/winter vehicles). I've tried a lot of different high end stuff and found these to be the best of the lot. Only thing I ever found comparible was tube driver blues but the PPI amps sound more "crisper" is the best I can define it. Not as muddy (warm?) as the tubedrivers. Not that the tube drivers are muddy by any means, the difference was very subtle. Also, the old Hifonics stuff circa Gen 7 or 8 was also very good. I think it was designed by the same guy/company (Zed?) along with the Orion stuff back in the day.
