^ Preach on That is why I love my Alpine 3401 and it's 7 bands of fully parametric equalization.

Ok folks, more info on the TLRs.

I got ahold of Nick Windgate, and he sent a very informative and detailed reply to my queries.

Nick and his buddy Dale have tried the TLRs out in a couple of cars, in both kicks and A pillar locations. Due to the dispersion pattern of the TLR, they didn't work very well in kicks. In fact, there was a list of other drivers that did much better at a fraction of the cost. For the A- pillars, they worked pretty well apparently. But he, like myself, has a preference for some other home hi-fi tweeters.(oddly enough, the same drivers) The down side is that they are impracticle to mount in a car. So, the A-pillar mounting worked for him. But, the tweeter has a nasty 5khz spike when mounted there. (sounds familiar...so do I with the TN-51s) He tamed this by crossing over the tweeters at 6khz, and facing the tweeters firing across the dash at each other. F/R was pretty flat off axis out to 16khz, but he felt that some other tweeters presented more detail.

I think most all of my questions on this topic have been answered. (regarding the 7990 and TLR) So for me, this thread is coming to a close.

I'll be thinking of something new to ask...

8250i and no TLR's...........

Parametric all the way. Once again, if you need 31 bands of eq-ing, you have a serious design problem............ a good system should only need to make EQ adjustments in a few places......... worst case. Like Adam said, no EQ is even better.

I understand how a parametric eq works....But I'm a control freak so to speak....I like the tweakability of a 31 band eq...not to mention, there are hardware apps for the behringer units so you you can have a parametric eq With the 31 band graphic eq as well.....which is the reason I believe Behringer IS the best value out there right now.

PEI330Ci, I played around with a new set of tweets last weekend. I think you know who makes them... I think you might like them in the a-pillers.

chev2, were those the .32 or .25 model.

Brandon, I don't have any experience with those tweeters. I'm assuming you're been looking at the Zalytron site. In general, most of the product on that site is sold to people who build speakers as a small business or a hobby. There are forums similar to this one, except for building home speakers...I'd ask there as it is a specialized home driver.

There are some very good home tweeters available from Zalytron that are insanely large. (Raven comes to mind)
