RCA Cables - Cost to benifits?

Hey guys,

Just wondering if RCA cables mattered at all. For some reason one set of mine aren't working so I figured if Im ripping up my interior to replace one, if there's a significant advantage of using the super expensive rca cables I may as well replace the other two as well.

Also, is there some reading material you guys could point me towards regarding imaging and how to.....do it well?

Im pretty new to this stuff and I'd really like to make the nice equipment I have already work for me as best it can.

Cheers,
Kyle

In my "opinion" it is the construction of the RCA's and not the materials used.

All it is is speaker wire wrapped in a thin layer of insulation then wrapped in plastic and jacks stuck on.

Shitty construction with weak connections will suck *****.

Well made RCAs, however will last you a long time.

sometimes it is hard to tell. I suggest you bring along a female RCA and see how well the male fits in.. Is it snug? loose? too snug and it may be hard to pull out.. Too loose and..well...
Pull it by the barrel.. does it come loose? etc..
I prefer the machined connector bodies but there are very cheap ones out there.

Buy a decent set (I mean, don't go ultra cheap)...you simply WILL NOT hear the difference.

I disagree with your assertion as it could be untrue and doesnt appear to be what the OP was asking anyway, but buying an RCA that well made is a hard earned lesson

Would it be advisable to buy one really good cable and split it into both A and B? Music is still just left and right, correct? I could control fade if needed with the gain on the high amp, Im assuming.

i feel the same as yuli. i have never experiences any changes other then the fact that some sets you can put through hell while installing and some break easily. i have a MONSTER set of RCA's with the remote turn on in the middle running through it. its seen a bunch of installs.. tossed around abused etc... still perfect.. i have some cheesy dollar store ones and theres no noticable difference other then i can grab the connector at the end and pull it off fairly easily. and if you crimp it slightly or bend them to much they will break inside the insulator and not work.

I want to hear from more sq guys or facts until I draw an opinion ... I think just like anyone else, they have knowledge and testing using mid-grade wire and high grade rca's ...
A lot of companies charge quite a bit for rca's as well.
