an rta wont tell you if a car sounds any good, and rta can can make pefectly smart people do dumb things to a good sounding car. an rta should be used as a learning tool to help you understand the changes to the sound you are making with a eq or crossover. you shoukd start king by getting a very good understanding of what you are listening to by referencing it to a system other that the car you are trying to tune, for instance a good 2 channel home audio system or a very good set of headphones to undestand the tonality of your refernce recording(s) and use it to help you tune the car your are listening to. some people just cant tune cars well, others very well
a smooth rta curve doesnt mean it will sound good, you may still have phase issues and crossover point issues that a rta wont always show you. use the rta to teach yourself how the changes you are maiking effect the sound
