Real Time Analysis Program

Does anyone out there use any real time audio analysis programs to test out their car systems? I’m talking about a program that will play test tones and then give you a graph on frequency response from the mic. I’m looking into getting one and a mic to play around with in my home theater and also my car, I’ve already got a balanced ¼” input on my soundcard for a mic so I figure its not too much more for a basic program and testing mic. Just wondering if its common or if I would run into any problems with testing inside the car. I remember watching a tv show (don’t remember what it was) but they were building the new Alpine?? Bmw x5?? And they were using a testing program and a dummy with mics in its ears to test frequency response, so I suppose its do-able??

Thanks for any advice!

Thank you for the help, the broadband RTA upgrade seems to be exactly what I’m looking for. Any idea how much that costs? The USB connection is a lot handier than the 1/4"!

Thanks!
