Ok, ok. I dislike mentioning reliability problems, I haven't had many of my own.

Whatever it takes for a quality install within reason and good value for the money. What does that mean? It means I will consider whatever it takes to get a quality SQ installation. I want to compete and I am prepared to shell out a reasonable amount of money to achieve my objective.

Hi Orion, what are their Screen names? I would like to send them PM's and ask them.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if I'm really qualified to say anything as I've been kinda out of audio for over half a year now (amazing how much you lose in such short amount of time)... anyhow, I currently have the C90's predecessor, the C910ES running optically to the XDP210ES. As a transport, the C910 is great but horrible radio and can barely read CDR's. I know you're planning on the C90 so I don't think you'll have those issues. From what I hear, it's a great deck... I've been trying to grab one for a while now, but couldn't find one at a reasonable price. The 210, although a great processor, I find it very limiting. The EQ is has too few bands, it only has three outputs (front/rear/sub) and the D/A is outdated. Mind you, I still found that is sounded much better than many current decks and deck/pro combos... but definitely not as good as P9. If you go with the C90, try and grab the XDP4000... much more flexible and has some crazy steep crossover points, plus you get to manipulate it visually on a computer. Oh, and memorize your buttons and settings because you won't see it in daylight. Beautiful deck at night though... hehehee.

I've recently made a step and decided to get the Denford deck as it has much better internals. As for processing... dunno yet. However, I've heard some ppl are modding it for digital output so they can utilize the Alpine processors... might be something for you to consider. Sorry if I'm just repeating what others have said... &gt

Opinions are like....

The best advice thus far is to talk to those people in the industry who have experience and a proven track record. And also talk to the people behind the people, LOL...

People who can offer good advice in no particular order (just those that came to mind):

Installers + Install Judges (NO PARTICULAR ORDER):
Gord Stansel - Fear this man!
Jamie Edmundson
Marc Turner
Moe Sabourin - Progressive
Rob Beckham
Tom Kleim - Kankar
Mark Bruno - Kankar
Frankie Valenti - 20Hz

Sound Q Tuners & Judges (NO PARTICULAR ORDER):
Jamie Edmundson
Marc Turner
Rina Beckham

Ontario Competitors whose cars you may want to hear (not a complete list by any means and my sincere appologies for leaving absolutely anyone out):
Experts:
Jamie Edmundson's Impala (once its up and ready)
Marc Turner's neon (Pioneer Product)
Rina & Rob's Big Black Dodge Ram (Xtant + mystery product )
Buba's (Emanuel's) Monte-Carlo (Focal + Rockford Product)
Jayson G's Pontiac Grand Prix (Focal Product)

Last years AWESOME rookies:
Alex with his sexy Sentra from Montreal (JBL product)
Mark Dacosta with his self-installed + tuned Ford Contour (Focal/Addison product)
Brian H. with his self-installed + co-pilot tuned Honda Accord (JBL + other product)

My friendly rivals, LOL...
Jason W. with his self-installed + tuned Pontiac Sunfire (Phoenix Gold product)
Todd Gaskel's Silver Ram (Focal, Pioneer product - if he hasn't started working on a new project yet)

After you've consulted with these fine folks, then you need to do some legwork and LISTEN to stereos! LISTEN to all the recommended speakers (if possible in a car environment) and purchase the ones you like best. It could be the absolute cheapest of the bunch that you find incredible. Ultimately you'll be the one who has to listen to the music every time you drive the car, so make sure you like what you hear before you have it installed in your car. Sound is a perceptive quality that is independent to the listener - you are trying to maximize the sound for yourself not some judge, so make sure you like it first and foremost!

If you can afford it, head down to Florida for Spring Break Nationals and take a listen to some of the top cars in the industry.

If you plan on competing for a while, then you may want to consider manufacturers that have a history of team support and who will help you out in the lanes if you have a product failure. Some new teams come to mind: Team DLS, Team JBL, Focal, etc...

Hope that helps a little
