Question RECOMMENDATIONS NEEDED - Best CD Ripping Software and Burning Hardware?

Hi

My old Plextor CDRW drive died and I lost the plextools software that it came with when I upgraded my computer.

This program and drive were an awesome team and all the CDs I've burnt for my car sounded as good as and many times better than the original disks.

I bought a new 'plextor'* CD DVD RW drive and have tried several different pieces of ripping/burning software. None of them touch my old plextor team in terms of sound quality. Even copy protection** CDs that I could easily rip and burn before have proved problematic with the new setup.

*I have read that plextor no longer manufactures its own drives and the new drive I bought (PX-DVD 880SA ATA) is based on a Lite-on drive.

**I have come to REALLY hate copy protection schemes on audio CDs I buy. I have purchased and continue to purchase CDs for my home system. I have over 2000 purchased CDs and want to be able to copy the originals to avoid the inevitable surface damge on the originals that occurs through normal use.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Kerry

Don't know about burning but for ripping and copying I use Exact audio copy(EAC).

Second that. EAC for sure. Incredibly flexible and precise. Foobar2000 is also good. I use it for playing back ripped music, but you can also use it to rip and burn.

I use DBPoweramp for ripping, it works great and easy to use as well. For burning I just use Roxio or Nero.

Nero's good stuff. Pretty much use whatever software as long as it has speed and quality variation options. Go for the slow speed bet quality and you're laughing.

Thanks everyone.

I found a copy of Plextools Professional XL v3.16 on the plextor EU website. I hope I get a chance to try some of the others recommended here as well.
