Retro install - PPI art amps, flat pistons, Dynaudio and 9255.
Oh, so Ken Kwan was your nemesis, so to speak? I wonder what ever happened to him or his cars. Googling him doesn't bring anything up.
Right you are about the classes. That show you were in Ama and I was in Pro. Vern was in Pro too I recall in the 0-150W class I think. That's funny you kept the trophy from that show too, as did I. I came home with First in my class, Best SQ - Pro and High SPL - Pro. Only thing I didn't get was Best Install - Pro. Tom Callendar and his CRX from Certified Radio got me by a couple points.
Lots of neat stuff on your original Neon install. You going to throw this one into any shows? What kind of carpet are you using on the floor?

Yeah it's been a while. Got burned out on the whole car audio thing. Thanks for the kind words and welcome back.
The old neon never competed in Pro though - it was an amateur car built to settle a score with Qwan (Quan?) in Ama 151-300. Sadly he retired before the Neon was done. The JB's show in Edmonton was the day after Gene's stag as I recall. I was 2 provinces away working on the road and he was hung over something fierce. What a guy to get the car to the show for me though. The car did take best SQ Amateur though - it's one of the few trophies I kept from the old days.
This install was mostly done by Aaron, but the rest of the sobs had a hand in it too. The mids are similar to the old install - lots of airspace - they've upgraded from grinders and tin snips to plasma cutters though.
If you're on facebook, search sound obsessions - they have a fan page with construction pics from this install... along with all the old classics - Gene's Mustang, Delbert's Camaro, Verne's Tbird, the original neon, the Blazer, the Van (loudest in Canada in 2000), etc. etc.

I heard about the Penticton show - might head out, but there's a few things the car needs before it sees the light of day. Pretty unlikely given the time frame.
The carpet looks to be some sort of sub box stuff - probably not very durable for a daily driver, but it'll be plenty good for this one. Fun to look at, a blast to listen to, but I've discovered that 15 year old economy cars handle like grain trucks - even after getting their mechanicals sorted out. Of course, most things handle like grain trucks when compared to the other green car
