I know Pioneer has them for Home Audio. I used ribbon tweets in my home-brew towers. They are pretty sweet....very crisp. I'm not sure about availability for car audio specific. Parts Express carries a selection of ribbons as well.

^ don't recommend them for car use mainly of their wide dispersion pattern characteristics. But they're great for home use tho.

to answer your question.. Infinity had a nice ribbon tweeter in the early 90s

It was the Infinity EMIT Kappa if I do remember correctly.

I had a chance in the early 90's to listen to a system that included a set of Infinity Reference Standard Loudspeakers. The mids and highs out of them were amazing and there is something to be said for 4KW of bass in your listening room....

After listening to Rumours and Dark Side of the Moon that day, I have spent way too much time and money trying to reproduce that sound......

If I win the 6/49 this week, I'll set it up and invite everyone over for a listen.....
