Typically if a manufacture gives a range of box sizes for their subwoofer, the smaller size will have lower bass extension, less efficient and more accurate and the largest size will have more bass extension, be more efficient and less accurate. Pick anywhere in between to find a sound that you like!

In this particular case the larger enclosure will provide the flatter response. Once you recalibrate your 7100 it'll be perfect.

let me resurrect that thread! I am looking for something that will give me very nice 50-100Hz frequency (I have a sub in the trunk that goes 10-50 and nothing beyond that) is focal this focal a solution for me?... ayone used it at the smallest box (specs show that will fit nicely for my application) just checking how was the output?

This focal wasn't the solution for me at all - completely disappointed with its lack of performance. Output left my ears laughing and my pocket book burning. Now the 33KX was a different story all together. It's location dependent, but if you can find the sweet pot in your car, your laughing.

Just so you know the Focal KX sub start retails at 7 bills +. Why not try an FI Q, SSA icon, JBL GTI. All proven SQ drivers and aren't slouched in the loud dept.

What frequency were you trying to get out of the KX?

It had very decent output around 45hz to 63hz under 42 was a loss of at least 3 ot more dbs. For $7 bills I was shocked by its lack of performance. The 33 KX stayed solid all the way down to 27hz.
