sealed box size and freq
hey in my wifes car we have 3 12" kicker free air subs. "f12a"
in a sealed box kicker rec's 1.75 cuft per woofer.. the box that we have then in right now is 1.1 per woofer before woofer displacement
. it was super super almost midbass only coming out of the them. so i took two jumbo pillows from walmart and used the stuffing and divided 1 and a haft in the chambers and it is better the box seems to play lower.. but still not low enought for most rap and hip hop for country it gets very loud but not for my rap/ hip hop
now the entire trunk is custom so i cant make the box much bigger. i cant got wider or i will not be able to get it in the car i will not be able to go deeper or i will have to re build the trunk (dont wanna)
but i can make the box taller and even then i will not be able to go much i will be able to get 1.45cft per woofer. before woofer displacement so i would be gaining 0.35cuft
i think that we are not using the three woofers to the fullest i really want to get the kicker spec of 1.75 cuft but with using three is it not gonna happen
am i gonna to notice the difference going from 1.1 per driver to 1.45 per driver?? (i will still keep the pillow stuffing in each chamber)
also the box that we are using now is a prefab and it has 3 chambers. the amp that we are using is mono we dont have any plans to get more amps for the subwoofers so should i do one chamber for all three woofers or 3 chambers..
this is gonna be for SQ
for SPL i have a single aw1006T using the same amp and we will find out the DB at the show on the 26th
hopefully some one will be able to give me solid advice by sunday before lunch cus i am heading to homer depot for wood after lunch 2 morro.

Yes you should notice a difference in going from the 1.1net to 1.45net sizing.
I'm going to guess you had the freeair drivers sitting around and tried to make use of them but if upping the enclosure size to 1.45 doesn't do it you may want to consider either using just two of the drivers or switching the drivers out for a different model.

well if you can get to 1.45 net per driver, that should equate to approximately 1.74-1.81 cubes with about 1.5 lbs of polyfill per driver. You gain approximately 20-25% virtual space with the polyfill when added at 1lb/cubic foot. Therefore add about 1.5 lbs per 1.45 cubes and you should get the desired results. Hope that helps.
