sealed or ported
This is the discussion that will drive him to sealed boxes, a ported box is great IF it is set up correctly. Do your homework and you will be rewarded. I lean towards sealed boxes (of course SPL is not a priority of mine) due to smaller volumes and no port tuning to work into a system responce curve (there I said it ... I am lazy). There are many ported SQ setups that rock so both ways are good. I believe porting has been around much longer than sealed so the technology is mature and very easy to work out mathmatically.
i went with a sealed box anyway. it sounds tight, but i might in the future try and build a ported box for it, just to see how it sounds..
btw its a 10 inch and i went with 1.1 cu ft and right now its just strapped in the trunk via bungee cord

AAHHHHH yes bungee cords the anti-bling bling
When you have the time, interest and $ the ported box is a great way to go, but it is easy to loose that tight sound if the ported box is set up incorrectly. Classical and hippity hoppity are all about pace, rhythem and dramatic impact yo.
