Simplifying - amps onboard digital processors
#1
Well, after years of helping other people compete, but being paranoid about putting my own car up on someone's buffet table... I finally have decided to try competing on my own this year.
To that end, I've secured some sponsorship from a local shop that I consult for, and I have some options on equipment to use.
I was originally considering using Audison VRX series amplifiers - and I still may.
However, Kicker's SX series amps are really intriguing, because of the onboard digital processing, particularly when you couple that with the remote controller... makes for easy front seat tweaking... and I like that a lot.
This shop is also getting into DLS and Tru... both high quality like the Audison, but none of them having the nice sophisticated signal processing up front.
So, alternatively... I'd be looking for a nice signal processor.. although I hate to add things in the signal chain, really. I really want to have an uber-simple system, that would be the most challenging and satisfying for me.
I have access to Kenwood as well, their amps are controllable via their head units... I simply can't stand the ergonomics of Kenwood head units.
Any other suggestions for amps with processing such as the Kicker SX series, or else a good signal processor that essentially handles the features of the SX processor would be nice.
Not looking for an equalizer.
I'm currently running an Alpine 7894 head unit, and would like to retain it if possible. It handles time alignment... although a processor that also handled that would be nice, but not a necessity.
Any thoughts?

I like the ability to adjust the crossover slope - and check out these choices:
6dB/octave, 12dB/octave, 18dB/octave, 24dB/octave, 30dB/octave, or 36dB/octave, 42dB/octave, 48dB/octave.
...and being able to do that from up front using the SXRC to hear the impact.
Other things you can control on the amps from up front using the SXRC:
Onboard true parametric EQ - adjust the frequency and Q (width), as well as level of the EQ band.
Onboard adjustable compressor/limiter circuitry.
24dB/subsonic filter and frequency adjustment.
The ability to make and name presets, and save and recall them globally, for all amps that are connected to the SXRC.
It also displays the amps vitals... heat, settings, etc.
It's full of cool features, and I can't think of any other amps sophisticated enough to compare, other than the Kenwoods...
...and it's not just the ergonomics of the Kenwoods I am not a fan of, it's also the cosmetics of the amps. It's just not there for me.
