So I was thinking of getting into SQ.

As it says, I was thinking about entering the SQ world, and I was wondering what I will need to sort of get started into it. I dont have a ton of money, but im willing to get ideas as to products I should buy.

For starters, im thinking about a 12' W7 for a sub, I can get a good deal on a used one here in town, and I was going to keep one of my exiles to power it. Wise choice of sub and amp?

Also, should i bother putting speakers in the rear deck? I hear its a bad idea. Should I get door pods? Or stick some pods on my dash? What speakers do you prefer?

theres alot more questions I could ask, but i thought I better leave it at that for now.

Anyways, since you guys are pro's, what should I do?

I'm no pro, but I woulndt focus so much on what equipement to get, instead, focus energy and how to install it properly and make It look good.

Normally guys stay clear of speakers in the back and keep it up front.

get the rule book for sq see where the points are http://www.iasca.com/classes/sq/
ask how to get the most out of your speakers (the ones you get)so like some set up more then others

I compete in USACi and 60-70% of your score is install, not sound quality.I dont use rears and wouldnt put rears in.

I like rears and would put rears in. This is a question that cannot be answered by us, it is your choice. With a world of options open to you, keep them all open. Why buy a "deal" if it may not be the right item for the system. One thing we all agree on is install, pour time into the install. Experiment with different mounting locations for tweeters etc. Get it to work properly or all that investment in good gear is down le toilet.

I think SQ is the most rewarding thing you can do for yourself and your car. No it wont make you a better person or make women run to you. But on a day in and day out basis you will be happier driving, SQ is something selfish yet fulfilling that you do for yourself. And you don't have to go to confessional over it

Yeah, music is definately one of my favorite things ever.

My car just got written off though, so right now my focus is on importing my 92' Silvia. I should be getting it before spring next year, so I gotta start saving my funds.
