Soundstream for SQ?

Hey all

I am trying to get some ideas for my new system and I have been doing some reading but I want to get some ideas from people on here too.

I am trying to build a system with 2 or 3 subs and I am trying to use stuff that people around my area don't really have (I like to be different and not have "me too" stuff) and I ran into some soundstream stuff that looks to be not too bad but I have never used any of there line up.

I have been looking at their "D" vertical amps and the R1 12" subs with a set of 6 1/2 comps in the front with either 8" or 10" mids.

I am trying to get an idea if soundstream is still a good company or if they have fallen off like most of the old school companies I am used to.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Soundstream hit a rough patch, they got sold and went cheap offshore, then they got sold again, and I think recently got sold again. The current owners appear to be trying to build up the name again. I've looked at their stuff a bit and think you could put together a great system with Soundstream gear.

i would have no problem using there amps and subs.. but i would stay away from the most critical component of any sq system... the mids and tweets. this is where i would run 'THE GOOD STUFF' i would choose a 3 way front.. using the peerless 830946 from 50 to 160 hz then the pioneer 4 inch ts-m101prs from 160 to 6k then a pair of hiquophon ow11 tweeters from 6 to infinity.. run the jbl ms-8 and win at worlds...

I havent heard any Soundstream in a couple years, some of it was OK then too. I met a couple gents at MECA finals from Soundstream and they seemed to be serious about SQ so I would be willing to give it a go. I am betting they do have some good stuff but most of the folks that sell it arent "SQ oriented"

When it comes to sq your right most companies don't really care these days. I am not looking for a hardcore comp system I just want something that is going to sound good and if I have to show it off I can.

I was looking at the R1 12" subs as they claim that they are the flagship sq woofer but I have never seen an sq woofer with a 2400 watt peak power rating. I am a little concerned there don't get me wrong if they will work then hell I will grab a pair strap 2 or 3k on them and let the puppies fly lol but ya get the idea.

For fronts I was thinking PPI or maybe even focal theres a 3 way set for like 400 or 450 on the web.

Beware of amazing deals on Focal online. They are very well pirated.
