SQ laptop- CD deck
sorry for the delay but i just had time to review these picks.
I like the idea and simplicity of these units, but the price is outstanding for something with a usb port 2 audio terminals and no ***** whatsoever lol.... I was looking for something like this as I wont be using the extra features on the advanced models but this is simply madness to pay 300 US.... like I said before- my budget caps at 200 and this seems lil overproced... what you guys think?
Basically im looking for something exactly like this but 1/2 the price lol

High Resolution Technologies music streamer, or music streamer +, or music streamer II, or music streamer II + USB DAC, like this one:
HRT - Music Streamer II - Demo-Audio Advisor
or this one:
HRT - Music Streamer II Plus - Demo-Audio Advisor
You can probably still pick up one of the first-generation models (non-II; not asynchronous and not 24/96, but still pretty amazing) for less (I think Music Direct still has 'em). Dead-nuts simple plug 'n play--just plug it into a USB port on your laptop, then into the aux-in on your deck. It has a USB input on one end, RCA outputs on the other. It's powered by your laptop--just treat it like a cable. Guaranteed it'll sound astounding. I use one in my home system, running foobar2000 and Exact Audio Copy and ripping my music to FLAC files. Haven't listened to my CD player since I got it. Should work a treat in the car.

This is true. The "pre" designation indicates it has a microphone pre-amp built in. It's great for taking measurements with analysis software (and recording obviously) but not necessary if you just want to play music.
