Getting a micro step closer to installing some door speakers in my Corrado. After so many questions I have not installed any hardware since joining this board and asking a lot of basic questions. I do have all the parts in place to hopefully get my two cars (98 Three series, 95 Corrado) (and most of my system for my old Corvair basking in new sounds. Thanks so much Forum members, this board has been generous in exchanging ideas.
Anyway, they are Focal 136 K's...stock size 5.25's going into the factory plastic enclosure moulded into the dooor panel (At about knee height). I covered the door completely with BB as step 1.
Question: Would it be beneficial to try to stiffen (Or deaden) the plastic speaker mounting area with something like Epoxy, FIMO , fibreglass, etc? Would also covering the areas surrounding the speaker (inside the door panel) improve any sound qualities, or Is this wasted effort?

Thanks.

you could always get some non-ardening modeling clay, and place it on the baffle and flange of the speaker, that would help keep the vibration to a minimum...

Umm correct me if im wrong but the factory speaker mount in a Corrado is actually made out of cast aluminum and acts as an enclosure inside in the door. I know this because I installed a system in my friends 90' Corrado. Maybe your is different though?

My 95 has a plastic housing. The original Corrado had an odd arrangemnet with little amps built into the speakers (It was called Aktiv system) These were quite poor sonically. On my car the speakers are held in place on plastic dowels with stamped sheet metal nuts. Really a one time only installation. This type of construction is quite pathetic from a serviceability point of view.
