sub wiring

so i'm ordering two jl 10" w6v2's and an alpine pdx 1.1000 mono block amp

so this amp is stable at 2 and 4 ohms if i'm correct, and puts out 1000 watts

either way (if powered properly of course). so my question is should i wire my

subs in series/parallel or parallel/parallel for either a 4 ohm load or 1 ohm load.

my guess is to go series/parallel for the 4 ohm load? i'm not sure if the amp is

even 1 ohm stable. i was lead to believe by my local shop that series/parallel

will give a better sound, and thats the way i should always wire dvc subs.

opinions?!

I don't believe your amp is 1ohm stable. You will be forced to wire for a 4ohm load.

The amp is stable only at 2 ohm or 4 ohm. You will indeed need to wire these subs in a series / parallel circuit in order to use the Alpine amp at it's optimum. If the people who are telling you it will sound better can actually hear the difference, they have some of the best tuned ears on the planet.... Lots of options to go with, what is the goal of the system and what is it going into?

i'm building for sound quality in a 2003 dodge ram 1500 std cab. the boxes are sealed and braced and about to be polyfilled on the larger walls aswell. i have infinity kappa components in the doors and reference coax behind the seat. i will be adding 4" dash (not sure what kind yet) and using my 4 channel amp for the dash and doors rather then doors and fill

you will need to wire for a 4 ohm load for sure...because your amp is definatly not 1 ohm stable.

check out the wiring options calculator on:

www.the12volt.com

very easy to understand different wiring options

The amp can handle 2ohm and 4ohm, and will give you 1000wrms either way, so you're ok.

However, is this amp the best you can find within your budget? Any reason why you chose this particular amp?

well i can get the amp for around 625 cdn, which seems pretty good to me. i searched around and there don't seem to be a whole lot of amps that put out 1000 wrms at 4 ohms, while maintaining good sq. the other amp i was looking at was the jl slash series but this amp would cost me a good extra 300 bucks. i searched around and apparently the pdx series are rediculously efficient. also, the size plays a role since its all getting installed in a std cab truck. another reason is i've owned alpine amps before and have never had any problems with them.

all said, i came to the conclusion that this amp is best suited for my set up and requirements, and the price wouldn't break my wallet.

whats your opinion?
