Sub x-over frequency

Just wondering where you all like to set your cross-overs at... I have a pair of 8 inch jl audio 2w3 and I cross them at 57 with a 12 db slope. I find if I go much higher, my ears hurt before I can feel it in my chest.

Right now i have an Fi Q 12inch in a ported box tuned to 32 and have my crossover set at 63 or 67 with a 24 db slope. Its punchy and pretty tight on intense drum beat nu metal like mudvayne and such, and for being ported is about as far from a fart box as it could be.

Generally I set my sub as high as i can without it being too easy to localize.

I prefer the deeper sound of a 60HZ/24dB crossover rather than 80HZ+.

I was always a 18 or 24 db slope kind of guy but recently I'm prefering 12. Seems to make the subs sound a bit smoother. Maybe not as punchy but I think that is because the 12 slope starts the frequency dip earlier compared to the 18 or 24

On my deck I set it to 63hz. I'm not sure how the slope works on my deck.

After much tuning i've found the best setting for my system is 70hz, 12 db/oct lp, and 25 hz, 30 db/oct hp(infrasonic) filter. 0' phase and a slight cut at 55 hz of 3db (caused a bit or resonance at low volumes on the rear deck). I haven't touched it in a year now, and i'm very happy with the sq and output.

same, for me this means <50Hz LPF for the sub, i have a strong frontstage so it's not an issue.

If i want to go crazy and really crank it up i put it to 63 but then at those level localization is not a problem anymore.

My personal settings for the Neon are 36Hz at 12db for SQ shows. But when I want a little extra bump I'm happy with 80Hz at 24db. I don't use a subsonic filter and very little EQ on the sub.

this thread had me thinking about my subsonic and proper settings. I know in a sealed box there is no need for a subsonic but on ported what is ideal? I have always assumed via some post i read awhile ago that proper subsonic should be set a few hz below tuning so for example myself i have my box tuned to 32 and subsonic set at 28 on a 18db slope.
