T/A options?

T/A options?
I've been back into car audio for about 4 months after taking a 15 year break. This time around I'm more in tune with what sounds good and why. Back in the day it was how loud will it go. lol!
Currently what I have installed in my civic is Pioneer DEH-P410UB HU, component 6.5" mids in custom kicks with tweeters, silk dome tweater in the triangle piece in front of the side windows, 4" mids in the rear deck for (barely) rear fill and a 12" W3V3 in a sealed box rear firing. I'm running 75 watts per channel to each driver and 500W to the sub. Drivers are rated at 75 watts and the sub at 500W RMS. It's an ok sound but the imaging is not there. That's why I tried adding the tweets up higher on the door, to get the imaging and staging a little higher and clearer. If I shift my head to the center of the car right in front of the center air vents, it sounds great. That tells me that the time alignment is affecting the sound quality at the drivers seat.
Which would be a better choice? The options I'm considering is the Pioneer DEH-P800PFT with T/A or the Audison Bit One T/A processor. The HU is about $600 and the Bit One about $900 (if you can find stock). I can swing the HU right now but not the Bit One. What are your suggestions?

Not sure where you are from in Ontario and where you got the $900.00 quote but I picked up the bit one in Toronto for $599.00CAD. So that brings your price points for each item to the same that should help you with your choice a bit better.
Good Luck

I think you should consider the 360.2, or the Bitone. Sure an integrated HU is nice, but the flexibility of running this off any HU is nice, not to mention the computer setup. I've got a Kenwood with T/A, but it is garbage. It is only front/rear/sub not L <----> R balancing, so all I could do was move my substage forward. Good luck.

the Rockford unit is pretty good but difficult for many to use, the bit one has a lot of haters (I was unimpressed with a couple of the very first ones in the lanes), the JBL MS-8 might be the ticket (have NOT heard the production version but preproduction units were marvelous). The DEH-800 HU should also be great for you.
I absolutely love the TA and EQ features in my Zapco DC reference very smooth and musical

are you looking at these units strictly for the T/A?
if so, why drop that much cash on a bitone:P
get the bitone if you want the added flexibility it offers with the amazing eq, crossovers, time alignment and oem integration.
if you just want T/A just upgrade your headunit and save yourself alot of money.
i haven't heard one, but with what they offer, get the ms-8.
imo.

Do a different angle on the 6.5's and tweets or put both tweets in the center angled outwards. I don't know what time allignment is, sound travels fast so how can you tell the difference? Does it have to propagate? You could always drive with a gangster lean.

Thanks for the feedback. I wouldn't be using the Bit One just for time alignment but the many other tuning features it also has.
The $900 quote for the Bit One was for new stock which has the price increase over last years prices. I would definitely be getting the latest version as the first versions had problems.
I like the integration of T/A on the Pioneer HU but I had also heard that some auto T/A on other head units wouldn't setup correctly. What I want is the flexibility to setup manually and fine tune.
Of course I could custom make the front pillars or even pods on the dash and have mids and tweets angled towards the upper back of the opposite door. But I'm not confident enough to do that just yet and make it look good. But I like the sound of a larger mid. Even the difference between a 5.25 and 6.5 is noticable. I prefere the 6.5 sound. I've had 3.5" mids up in the dash of an old car and it was ok but had a bit of a harsh sound at upper volume levels. Could have just been the brand of speaker but I think it was more the size limiting the full range frequency response for a mid.

I also got a $900.00CAD quote it all depends on how greedy the store is i guess
