Believe me..... `they do! I used to upgrade the Apogee DACs outputs, Rane EQs & X-over with Burrbrown Opamps. They're not cheap.. the best sounding single channel ones are about $50 a pop vs $2.00 for a NE5534 or Tlo71. The duals are not too bad... about $5-8/chip.

Would you know # on the Toshiba Opamp?

I would imagine they do as at least one local shop in Vancouver sells Brax.

Hi there. We at Audissy Distribution are the Canadian Distributors for Audiotec-Fischer products.

First, I would like to clear up where the Helix brand sits in the marketplace. They are NOT considred to be like Pioneer and Kenwood. Helix is an affordable line based off of the Brax lineup. The Esprit amps are designed to compete against amplifiers such as: Zapco's Reference line, Audison's LRx and so on.

The Helix amplifier line is now composed of 3 amplifier "classes", the A class at the top, followed by the Esprit, then the B series amplifiers. The amplifier in question, the HXA-500MKII has been discontinued for about a year now. It has been replaced with the H500 Esprit.

Since the Tru amp in question is a 4 channel amp, it may be a better comparison between that and our H400 Esprit...

Send me an e-mail at bryanso@audissy.com and I would be glad to forward you literature and discuss this with you further.

By the way, where in Canada are you located?

im not too familiar with tru amps, but have only heard good things about them... never really heard a complaint about an us amp... and helix is kinda half and half... not too many people over here have them, but apparantly they are the equivalent of pioneer and kenwood back in germany... but no complaints out of the few people that have them...

im seriously looking into a tru t-4.65 w/ the burr brown mod... however i think its too power for my front stage... im running a set of cdt c/f hd's w/ 560 crossovers and the m-519 upstage system... the cdts are rated to take up to 150 rms, but with the upstage i might need a bit more power to make up for it... i know headroom is supposed to be a good thing, but is there any risk by having that much power on tap (since tru would probably put upwards of 300 rms per channel actual power)?

also... ive been told that the motorola t-03's they use in the tru amps and helix arent that good for 12v applications... not sure how much of this is true...

sorry for the long post, but just need some help deciding... which amp would you pick neglecting cost?

thanks

Hmmm the sound of sand (sounds like a Simon and Garfunkel hit to me)
You are correct, Helix does not make a tube amplifier and they are Brax's little brothers.

I believe that's the All tube 12W/channel Copper Series TRU..... not the T-O3 ones.

wow... im impressed with all the replies...

anyways... the helix i am looking at it a solid state (not tube) amp using the t03s also...

the t03s in the tru amp are supposed to motorola although im not 100% sure about that...

right now im leaning towards the tru amp... i really wanted a tube amp (us amps) but with the company slightly questionable at the moment and the amp not fully put together (i would be buying splhertz's lot of us amps), i think im going to stick with something that is a proven performer... not enough people have the us amps tu series to give me a review of it...

thanks for the replies...

tried Helix A1 running at 1 ohm 790rms for sub and to compare To3 4150 2 channel to bridge just 500rms at 4ohm.Helix can't even power the idmax properly.
i like to3 muscular power and dynamics + lots more head rooms.
if iw were to compare i will take helix A4 and tru 465 non Burbrown.
