Ural CDD

K, some guy on ECA has one for sale.

Anybody used it before....apparently it's comparable to the 8250 for sound and has a crap load of feautures. Looks neat I'd like to try it out.

It should be a great unit with all the bells and whistles. The only thing I'd be concerned is if it needs any fixing down the road, who do you go to?

iirc the sales of this unit were stopped due to several unsolved 'bugs'.
i've always wanted to get one but when several people complained (i think it was the ICIX (sp) forum, i let it go...
now, if the reliability and supply could be assured, that's a different story!

What kind of bugs Marco?

It looks cool but if it's gonna be a POS I'll just get my 8250 fixed.

Don't like the remotes very much...the're as big as my tv remote.

it was all software bugs... functions wouldn't complete, just weird stuff. i'm sure the posts are still around on carforum or elite.

i really liked it though... that demo video was a pure dream!! if the SQ is as sophisticated as the design of the product, wow wow wow but i can't risk it being buggy for that much money.

yea no doubt, eh...I forget what he wanted for it but I think it's still for sale, but like you said, if it's gonna screw up I don't want it.....and it's not something you can just fix yourself......is the company still around?

I've owned a Ural CDD since April 2006. You can see photos of my Ural here and here (I'm "bryan" on ICIX).

I have yet to experience any bugs or glitches. Everything has worked fine and the unit sounds great.

The nicest thing about this deck is that it's super easy to tune, and probably more flexible than any other standalone HU besides maybe the DRZ9255. Take the crossovers, for example. You can HP, LP or BP each pair of channels independently, using literally any frequencies you want, as opposed to choosing from a limited selection of preset frequencies on most other decks. Crossover slopes are adjustable too, as are level, phase, T/A, and EQ.

The MP3 browsing interface is by far the fastest and easiest I've seen in a single-DIN deck, and it plays OGG and FLAC too!

For comparison, I also own a Denford 8250 and a DRZ, but the Ural is what's in my car right now.

yea, I saw that site before when I was looking for pics of the CDD.

Is it difficult to use? It looks like you use the remotes for everything like a P9?
