Hey guys:

There is momentum building to host a Sound Quality Summit in Vancouver sometime this Summer. It's been mentioned a few times in this thread: http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/cgi/...c;f=8;t=000665

I wanted to start a new thread to discuss the plausibility of doing one, and probably most importantly, an express of interest. Please respond here if you'd be keen on attending, and how many you might expect to come along with you.

And for the Calgary guys...don't worry, we're working on something there to, so hang tight!

I am interested. Similar cost to the one that just happened?

Scott Buwalda 04-28-2005 05:30 PM

Yes, more than likely. My expenses are about the same...maybe slightly higher with the plane flight. But figure $300 CDN as a safe bet...

Okay so here it is. I attended the summit in Buffalo last weekend and would like to share my views on it. I have been in car audio for many years and have experience and knowledge in almost every facette of the 12 volt industry. However the amount of knowledge that I gained from the summit is absolutley overwhelming and invaluable (thank god I took notes). The ideas and techniques that were shared by Scott and the group were amazing. The seminar covered topics such as speaker design, speaker placement, set-up and tuning techniques, fabrication techniques, and much much more.

I dont want to rant on about this but I will say that if you are serious about moving forward and bettering your abilities in car audio you really should attend this summit. The cost of attending will be returned back ten fold in the knowledge and information that will be gained.

P.S. Thanks Scott I really enjoyed the seminar.

My self and one employee would be attending.

Kris Dancey 04-28-2005 10:47 PM

Would their be some sort of incentive similar to the last seminar?

Depending on the date, I am very interested.

Pioneer Guy 04-28-2005 11:43 PM

I'm interested if you think that a supplier perspective would be valuable.

Scott Buwalda 04-29-2005 04:40 AM

Thank you Chris!!!! Glad that you liked the seminar and got some good things out of it!

Hey guys:

Thanx for the interest. I will retiterate that this is still in the way-out planning stages. Nothing set officially in stone. I want a good Calgary event too, so I need to be sure that there will be enough attendees to support two events at capacity, and not have them compete against one another. I think the same format as the last Summit in Buffalo would be followed, and yes, I do see incentives being laid out in the same way. More to come on all of this...

Well Vancity and Cowtown are pretty far from each other, and should each be able to draw lots of participants, specially since the west is better at SQ than the east

hobbes26 04-29-2005 11:35 AM

I'd be very interested in attending the event. :D

effenay 04-29-2005 11:49 AM

I'm interested too, please keep us posted.

Paul Niwranski 04-29-2005 12:32 PM

I would consider attending.

Tim Baillie. 04-29-2005 12:34 PM

Scott, as per our discussions, just let me know at date and it's a done deal............

Tim Baillie. 04-29-2005 12:35 PM

Also, if you post over on Carsound about the Vancouver one there are alot of WA and OR people that would be interested in attending.

Scott Buwalda 04-29-2005 01:24 PM

Perhaps as this idea matures it'd be a good idea to post something over there. But it probably shouldn't be me that makes the post. It'll just be deleted.

On another note, perhaps we can ask those that have already responded if they'd go to a Calgary event, or if they'd only consider going to a seminar if it was local in Vancouver. Once again, need to be sure that a Calgary draw won't be hurt by one in Vancouver, as Calgary was the first to be considered.

Oh, and thanx Tim for the vote of confidence and the use of your facilities for an event!

Paul Niwranski 04-29-2005 01:30 PM

I would not drive to Calgary.

MR2NR 04-29-2005 02:30 PM

Put me down for either one. It is quicker for me to fly to Calgary and probably cheaper as well rather than taking the BC Ferry Queen of The Ghetto over to Vancouver. WestJet rocks, direct flights from here to Calgary.

SUX 2BU 04-29-2005 03:16 PM

I prefer the Queen of Much Needed Repair :D

JRace 04-29-2005 03:37 PM

If the dates work for me I am in for one or the other.

MR2NR 04-29-2005 04:13 PM

Scott, your PM box is full dude.

Scott Buwalda 04-29-2005 04:18 PM

Emptied. Try again!

Scott

zzzzzzz 04-30-2005 08:25 AM

I would consider attending the vancouver one

Merlin 04-30-2005 05:52 PM

count me in.

islandphile 05-02-2005 12:34 AM

I'm in for Vancouver and I'll do a head count of a few buds and let u know.

TomK 05-02-2005 05:54 AM

Just want to reinforce what Chris from PT said. This event is completely worth going to. I can't emphasize enough to take advantage of this opportunity when it happens. You will walk out knowing more then you did walking in. And one of the best parts is the question and answer period. You can ask whatever you want. In Buffalo the Q&A sometimes it turned into a big group discussion and it was amazing to realize the knowledge and experience in the crowd as well as what Scott had to offer.

goalie 35 05-03-2005 12:32 AM

iam in for either one.

mike bisson 05-03-2005 06:30 AM

Depending on timing I would be interested as well -- very good opportunity to learn from a master.

goalie 35 05-04-2005 12:14 AM

hey mike had my first guiness beer the other day....... well..... hey mike had my last guiness beer the other day.

mike bisson 05-04-2005 05:56 AM

LOL -- oh well.

islandphile 05-27-2005 12:54 AM

Any update?? Is this gonna happen... I'll be in Van July 23 & 24 and 30 & 31??

Scott Buwalda 05-31-2005 06:17 PM

I am certain that you'll be hearing something soon about this. The interest in the seminar is very good, and it will happen. It's just a matter of when...

Thanx for your continued interest, and sorry for the late reply.

Scott
