Wanted SQ 4" Mid-Range speakers
#21
I have used the eton 4" mid.. Great mid, i would use it again. Its one of the deepest at 2.6+"'s though. I have always been a fan of the morel stuff, always seems to impress.
Most 4" mids are 2-2.25"s deep.. The scans are a little narrower..
If you want something really narrow, and are ok with crossing the midbass/midrange over around 800hz, you could go to a dome midrange like a dyna or the morel dome. something like this: http://www.morel.co.il/car/component...nge/cdm54.html

Dukk, those were very very nice mids... kind of wolfs in sheep's clothing!
I've come accoss a really good deal on CDT eurosport 4" mids ($150 cad shipped). they just might do the job for now. I'm trying to get some industry contacts on the 4" revelators (scans) but no luck yet... they would be perfect!!
any thoughts on the CDT compared to Etons, morel and scan-speaks?

I have a set of high end Audax 4" sitting on the shelf going to waste. Don't remember the model number but they were pretty penny back in the days when I got them....... like $300 to $400 for ea driver. It's a home audio driver. So long story short, don't forget to check out Audax.

I agree with Tom - Audax should always be kept in mind. They have such a range of drivers from dead cheap to high end that you can literally choose how nice a driver you want to afford
When I look at 'home' mids my short list always winds up being Morel, Seas, Eton, Audax.
