I was looking at a new Z06 vs my current car. (At the time there was a 2 year waiting list for E46 M3s) I went with something much slower....and much quieter.

I still love the Z06 though. There was a guy in Edmonton that sold his Ferrari 355 and bought a Z06; he found it an upgrade in performance.

Are you putting that pile of new gear you got in the Z06?

I saw an article somewhere about a company using birch wood to make full range driver cones. They were treated with Saki. The link The article was better in the publication. I'd like to pick up a pair or at least listen to them, an old idea brought back to life.
I wonder how well they'd stand up in a vehicle?

You have posted installations, construction, destruction, opinions, and information. Not everyone has agreed with your posts, and to that I say so what, it is only car audio.

Good point -- many times many of us make the error of thinking we know everything about something only to miss a minor detail -- thus making our efforts futile.

I find that a lot of the time, we forget that Car Audio goes into a car and because of this there is no absolute universal solutions for all of us.

I was reading a thread on tweeter positioning and I found it amusing that some people were making fun of using "A" pillars to mount tweeters without giving an explanation as to why they felt this.

Just because something can work well in many cars (kick pods), does not mean it works for ALL cars. I have my mids mounted in the stock location in my Caravan (dash) and guess what, music comes from my dash! My tweeters are mounted aprox. 3 inches from both mid and they "integrate" well (IMO).

Now, is my way the "only" way? Of course not, but it works for me. I only mention this because I remember seeing a "demo" vechile that was a Caravan like mine and they decided to use "kick pods" because that was what everyone at the time thought was "the best".

Fashion is to literally to do what is commonly felt is "in vogue" at anyone time -- it is not what is "the best", just what is popular. For example, fiberglass looks cool, but is it practical? Inverting your woofers is currently fashionable, but is it better?

To conclude this "way too long of a post", I would like to congratulate Adam on his 1000th post and to thank him for posing truly provoking questions about this hobby we all enjoy.

sounds like pipes is in some type of prison, be it personal or federal. he has limited his creative side by focusing too hard on the boudaries he see's as unbreakable, so he vents by trying to bash without outright saying it, this is where his creative side lives and thrives, im glad im not pipes
