what do you think are good amps.
what amps do you like. why do u like them. what do u think makes them good. have u done back to back comparissons on them against other amps.
im looking for the general ruling so every vote counts. i've come into some knowledge that some new amps are comming out in january with a new technology that is better then anything out to date. small and compact in size. big on power and clearer then anything out today. and they're made by JL. they've been working on them for over 3 years apparently.
barely even known to jl reps unless they've been to florida recently. and all they were shown was a bluebrint and some numbers.

I think that what all companies will tell you. From what I've seen for JL, their "new" amps are going to be similar to the Alpine PDX amps. If so, they will not be a great amp from an SQ point of view.
I do A/B comparisons on amps. And I have heard some differences. But I,m not sure if those differences will be noticable in a car. And even if they were, you can probably change or install or your tunning of the car to do a similar job.
When you buy an amp, just get a product for a company that you trust. I'm not using the best amps available (far from it), but I still managed to build a pretty good sounding car.

I subscribe to Richard Clark's findings about amplifier SQ...I AB everything I can get my hands on, and I've yet to hear a difference in similarly powered amplifiers (these are strictly amplifiers...no eq, or processing). I therefore buy amps based on my personal experience with the brand, cost, size, features, and cosmetics required for a project. For me, RF has been bullet proof for over 20 years, so they are always on my list. Alpine, PPI (older stuff), Orion (older stuff), Kicker, MTX, Pioneer, Hifonics (even the new stuff), and Kenwood amps have all been very good for me as well, and i wouldn't hesitate using any one of them. As far as JL's new amazing amp...we'll see..actually hear, when they come out. I'm skeptical only because I've AB tested some pretty high end equipment only to be very surprised of the results. In a moving car...well let's just say I'm skeptical!

I heard rumors about these amps a while ago.
To the best of my knowledge, they were planning on IcePower designs, so it will be similar to the Alpine PDX and Pioneer and Eclipse and all the other IcePower amps coming out.
Based on proven performance, I am leaning heavily towards the PDX series of amps.
