what kinda should i get?
ok, i figured id go on a site like this before i headed over to futureshop and paid over 800 bucks on some "regular" equiptment.
i have some questions and im not sure if this is the right area to ask them, so if a mod could move this thread ot the proper place after, that would be great
im looking to buy NICE speakers for my 93 4Runner. now the front are 4" and the back are 5 1/4" but if i wanted to i could put 2 6X9's in the access panels in the back. now my main question is, what kinda speakers am i looking to get.....
by that i mean, i wanna have really good quality at very high volumes. and im just not sure what kinda name brand or type of speakers or amps i should be looking for.
thx

Depends on your price range.
Use a local shop not FS or best buy if possible. A local shop will usually have people working there that know what they are talking about and will come out from behind the desk to help you.

oh, as for speakers that sound good at high volumes....Focal K2P's play VERY loud and love it. No fatigue, and VERY fast speakers. Although you could be looking at $1200 for a set of those.
Alpine Type X's are also pretty sweet, not sure about price though...tpye R's are good too, but I don't like the tweet as much as the Type X.
Kicker makes nice speakers....they make some of the nicest co-aixle speakers I've heard. Kinda pricey compared to Pioneer or Sony but well worth it.
As for amps, I kinda have a thing for the new Rockford Punch amps....they look mean, and they won't cost you your left arm for a set with decent power output.

Scott - seeing as you are from Abby, if you head into that FS, talk to Jaz or grab Ed or Rob out of the install bay. All 3 of those guys know their stuff.
If you roam out in Chilliwack more, salesguys Steve or Mike, or installers Randy or Rob (same Rob as Abby) will help you out well too. Stay away from that Paul guy though - he's in on Saturdays and is a total jerk
I'd recommend the Infinity speakers at FS, but listen to the Quart too. As for the other shops in the outer valley - I'm never in them so I can't say what to listen to there.

^ That's sad to hear Mike. I like to think that when I worked the floor I knew what I was talking about. And same with Kyle. And Steve in Wack is very very good. Not as good as me, but hey, that's a tough comparo
For sure, you get some *****, but then all stores get *****.

I've run into more ***** in car audio stores than big box stores over the years. At least you can browse to your heart's content, and screw around with the sound board at most big box stores without some dick telling you not to touch the equipment.

Around here, the big box stores are over run by 17-20 year olds that usually don't know much more than what's printed on the box or on the website as was said.
Or there's the ones that think they know it all, and they get all confused when you ask them some thing simple like the X-max of a particular sub.
