cause we spl guys have been busting our butts to promote spl.......woot woot....sq too....you just dont see it as much yet...it is getting back into action.....also remember that there are hardcore followers for different sanctions.....iasca and usaci and it is a shame that there arent alot more...but im sure that more shows will pop up. and locally. db draggers idbler are split by province....and if you are in a half way area...you get good turnout.

keep up making shows happen and spl .sq and specatators will keep coming out.

oh and to add to your question.....cause it more fun than popping bubble pack.

I think many people seem to think that SQ costs more money. Which really isnt true. You really dont need to spend much to compete in SQ. And in many cases, the guys who spend more dont have cars that sound any better then the more budget minded ones.

Their is a lot of pride that goes around the SQ arena. With that in mind not a lot of guys like the fact that a judge is taking a close look at the install and listening for certain items in the soundstage. A lot of guys could not be bothered...they would just rather see how loud they can go. SPL has its benefits for these type of people. They don't have to hear how something was installed in a manner that was not quite as good as the other guy or the placement in the soundstage is off just a touch. After hearing it...go back to the drawing board and retune/reinstall something for the coming weekend. For them, stuffing the car with a bunch of gear and seeing how loud it can go is better...no fuss. SQ guys tend to be more tweaky and therefore...they like to see the scoresheets and comments and try to get that little edge for next time. I am glad there is both arenas. It is good for the industry. it would be nice to see the crowds that were around in the 90's. I do know however of 7-8 guys who are building SQ cars as we speak and are trying to make it out before the season ends...if not, you'll see them next year!

I just got into SQ last year, and now I have everything i wanted for completing my setup. now its a matter of time getting it all installed properly. I doubt if ill be competing in anything this year. But ill do my best to get out and see some shows.

People still believe that you can get into SPL for cheaper than SQ. If you want to place respectably though in whatever class you choose, IMO you're spending similar money with either.

If you want to dominate though, even locally, you will likely spend more on SPL I figure...

Joe listed many good reasons that people shy away from SQ as well. I think the two big ones are pride (nobody wants their hard work criticized) and too many people think they need the ultimate flash install to compete SQ. Untrue - sure it has to be neat and tidy, but not expensive or flashy.

SQ is on the edge of a nice comeback though. A few more dedicated dealers hosting one or two shows over the summer would sure perk it up.

^ yeah............I agree! specially now that there's a SQC class where you could focus 100% on SQ.

Talking sq will rise again

I totally agree where spl does has it's place alot of the vehicles are nothing pretty. lots of duct tape etc.
SQ is totally different even though i feel that you can still have great spl within a SQ set up.
Hopefully i'll have one car done this year and it will pound and sound excellent all in one.

See you all soon, hopefully before the summer is over.

Project car= 1990 vw golf done from the ground up.
