Where to go from here...
I just bought a 1999 Nissan Sentra with factory everything, including the tape deck, and I'm looking to revamp the sound system in it. I don't know much about audio systems but I've been reading up on it lately trying to figure out what I should do in my situation. I'm on a budget and want to get the best sound quality for the lowest price.
I already have two 12" subs in a box with a 1000w amp that I'm putting in the trunk and a friend of mine gave me some Blaupunkt PCxT402 4" two-way speakers. I know they aren't exactly top of the line but it's what I've got to work with.
What I need to know is what's a good CD deck to get, what front and back speakers should I get and anything else that would help me out. I would love to get some component speakers but I'm not looking to do too much in the modification area so I might have to settle for some coaxial speakers, what would you recommend? I am considered putting in kicker panels since that doesn't take too much effort.
Let me know what you think and keep price in mind!

Speakers depend on budget. Do it once and do it right the first time. Know what the goals of the system are and come up with a plan to get there. Do you need ipod or usb integration in the cd player for example? What research on the car have you done, as in what size of front speakers can you put in? The more info you can put here on the forum, the better the responses will be and the more accurate the recommendations will be.

As for the CD player I would like something that has the mp3 output and I don't know what it's called but I want a deck where you can control the subs so I can turn them off and on easily through the deck.
For example is something like this any good?

I was looking online trying to figure out what size speakers my car can hold and it told me that the front and the back fit 6-3/4" speakers. As for their sound quality I want to have the loud bass from the subs but inside the car you can hear the words loud and clear.
I once had a friend with a really well put together system who told me that it's hooked up right when you can have the music turned up and still have a conversation with the person in the passenger seat. I never understood how that worked but their sound quality was amazing; loud, full of thump, and clear.. that's what I'm looking to achieve or at least as close to that as possible.
As for price range I'd really like to stay within 300-400 hundred for everything if that's possible... deck, speakers, any wiring, and the dash kit.

How about something like this:
http://www.crutchfieldcanada.com/Pro...Show=TechSpecs
http://www.crutchfieldcanada.com/Ken...113kfc1661.htm
It also comes with all the wiring, dash kit, and speaker brackets, shipped for $260
Im wondering if it is possible to only install two speakers in the car, say I installed these ones in the front and had nothing in the back... at least for now. Can you do that or does it put two much pressure on them. Also can you mix and match your speakers so to speak, putting two of one brand in the front and two of another brand in the back or does that get complicated

Check out the Kenwood Excelon KDC -X493.

A more expensive choice then the deck you were looking at, but a much better unit. 2 year warranty. A 4V output signal, as opposed to 2V. With the USB connectivity, you can store all your music on an 8Gb thumbdrive, for example. Instead of spending money on writable CD's, you buy a thumbdrive for $25, and store a couple thousand songs on it.
My fiancee has the model up from the one I suggested. The only difference is a cosmetic change of the faceplate, and the USB cable comes off the back of the unit.
I would spend some decent money on the head-unit. I suggest spacing out your purchases over a period of time that will allow you to get better equipment the first time, like MR2NR said.
I don't suggest spending money on the rear speakers. Take the $60 to $80 you'd spend on rear fill, and put that towards a better set of 6.5" components up front. I recommend the MB Quart Reference, or Premium series speakers. You could send MR2NR a question about their current pricing.
What is the make and model of the two 12's and that amp you have?

Tragic, the Crutchfield link that you went to is the US side and not Canada. Crutchfield Canada is not licensed to sell Excelon products and the US side will not ship them to Canada. I have a package that I am working up for the OP right now, he should have it by PM shortly.

Tragic I really like that head unit good suggestion.. You mentioned putting more money into the front speakers.. does that mean I just leave the stock ones I have currently installed in the rear
Sirsleep that's really good to know I will have to do some more reading up on that
As for the subs and amp I have its a 1000w Diesel amp with two 500w Diesel subs
