Yeah perhaps, or maybe something different from the DB drag competitors. I just find that there are not as many sq'ers out to the comps and am trying to find out why.

A lot of work, effort, and money goes into building an sq vehicle and it would be awesome if more people would come out and compete.

i think if there was that type of $ you will see more cars out and i think you would have some spl cars try to do a bit of sq
right now you pay to do a show and you may get a plack or a paper that has a #1 #2 or #3 on it but cash will get cars out of the woodwork

A show costs money to put on, the primary costs are trophies, judges pay, sanctioning fees, and transportation costs. The shows I put on are ALL trophy shows (I want to do $ shows but I need real sponsorship for that to be a draw, like the Nashville show it takes a lot of cash). I do shows for the love of the 'sport' not to make a living... in other words my business model sucks and I know it. I think you won’t find anyone getting rich on car audio shows right now, heck most car audio shops are just getting by.

I am extremely fortunate to have 4 world class SQ judges who do my shows for me, and I have a great SPL judge too. I don’t think they have any significant biases which are one of the things that make them World Class. I know every judge is accused of bias sooner or later (funny how someone losing brings out the accusations) so Judges need to have thick skin. Everyone, including judges, is not perfect and if the judge does not do a good job of communicating with the competitor then he/ she won’t know why they did well or poorly. Frankly competition needs to be fun, this is not real life, it is a hobby. SPL shows better than SQ, and the SPL meter is pretty cruel to everyone (it does not have biases). I actively push for crossover competition and do pretty well.

Alma's Bronco was brought up, now there was a real SQ vehicle. One of the 3 or 4 most realistic and dynamic I have heard. Yet it was not perfect, it also had world class noise issues. Frankly it was a great platform for selling JBL components because all the drivers were JBL not just sponsor friendly covers. Frankly Alma was great for car audio, she excelled at everything she did.

gates suv was not running when i heared it but i liked it .it is hot inside it form the amps
the Q asked was what would get sq cars out and i see it = $ but a shop will not do it becouse it cost too much in the end and they may give out big cash and not get the car in the end
i would like to see more shows but shops are not doing alot of shows here and i can see less over the top set up when there is no shows to show them off (there will be someone out there that will )

toronto had 4 shows that paid, money and gift cert last year. sq had about 15 cars on average. 10 same guys and 10 guys that came and went. fun sq shows should be sound only not install. sq is a certain person looking beyond how loud.

just try and find a score sheet or a definitive scoring outline that a newbie would understand and make the drive out.

you get older get married, house , kids. then try and explain your busy this weekend with a car audio show and yard work will have to wait. if i only had a tablesaw in my appartment back in the day.

lastly i never see industry reps giving out prizes. thx to pioneer, alpine for all the swag. never seen any connection . the poor store owner has no support.
