heh - Mike's car is always over the top!

Like many, I first determine what I want in the car: how much power, component makeup, etc. then make a list of potential gear for each purpose: amps, processor, front stage, headunit, sub. Then i turn to the car and see what it can take dimensionally for components, sub box, amp rack, and revise the list, eliminating what won't fit. This is the fun part because the sky is the limit brand/model wise.

Then the wallet has it's chance to speak...

And after that I usually have a short list, 1-3 choices, for each position in the car.

For my SX2.0 I was able to get a good deal from one of our suppliers so I bought everything but the deck from them. My goal was to make a great system with everyday gear. This time I want to step it up a notch

Usually I try to find the best buy for the money, the only time i think i spent too much is when i purchased my KS300.4 from a local dealer, but at least he was authorized.

Here's my current setup

Arc Audio KS300.2 and 300.4
, needed to fit under the front seat and pack a decent amount of power. Same thing for the Alpine PDX-1.1000.

Alpine PXA-H701, needed 4way active setup and seem one of the most used processor.

Alpine DVA-9861, i was looking for a HU with fiber and got a deal for a used one.

CDT ES-06, lot's of guy on a local forum use those and I was impressed by Sirsleepalot setup (run a pair in each door)

Morel MW-114 and ScanSpeak 2904, I talked with Solen owner and he recommend me those drivers. I'm in love with my 2904...

ID IDMAX 10, this was an impulse, but hey 250$ BNIB! When i got it i realized how massive it was and what a challenge to install in the center console...

So far I only have a head unit and sub.

Head unit is the Pioneer Premier P690UB. Always had good luck with Pioneer HU's. The P690UB was on sale in the US for a good price and has all the features I wanted (including 7 band eq, ipod and USB connects).

The sub I have is a single 12" IDQ (v3d4). Wanted an SQ sub and after reading up on various forums the IDQ fit the bill. Seemed that people were very happy with this sub. Was going to get a 10" but I got the 12" BNIB for a good price. Also, the 12" should fit where I want it.

Efficiency and SQ without an over the top budget.
never competed, so looking for simplicity for everyday use and a balanced system.

specifically...

mcintosh headunit - chosen for sq, appearance and ease of use.

mlk 165's- chosen for sq with significant volume, tweeter flexibility, and natural warm sound.

pdx 1.1000 - chosen for efficiency, value, and sizeower ratio
pdx 4.150- ability to stack with the 1000 and again sizeower

10" ID Max v.3 - chosen because its an amazing all round sub...great sq and spl whenver i want...ideal for a daily driver.

dynamat- because i don't want to be the car with money invested and have it sound like a rattling tin can lol

power - necessity

Thanks

Will do my best to make as many Western Canadian shows next year as possible.

Hopefully the upholstery will be finished soon. Hzemall has been using the car for fill-in work in between other jobs. Thats why its taken so long. Plus they have had to do a lot of rework.

Checked out Tim's Buick the last time I was up at Hzemall.
The Interior is awsome!
From what Tim was saying he is not ready for SQ competition and has no desire to compete any time soon. Said he was just planning on taking it to local car shows for fun.
