Why Did You Choose Your Gear?
being on a very tight budget, I would have to say that I bought the best that I could with what I had at that moment, always with an eye open for deals. I bought my first system off of my bro for $200 which was just the amp(a jensen p.o.s.) and a phoenix gold 12" sub in a custom ported box. then I was given a little 4 channel amp for the front end from a close friend. Then I bought a cheap head unit, a freeway for $150, which is a mistake that I will not make again.Next I bought a oldschool ppi amp for $200, and 4 mbquart 6.5's for $100. A friened then offered to sell me his lightnig audio amp and 2 6.5 mb quart referencs and 5.25 references with tweeters for $100, and a different friend sold me his rockford fosgate bd1501 and 2 mtx 12's for $250. And when I told my chiropractor about my hobby he sold me a sony crossover, sony amp and 2 sony 5.25 3ways. along the way I was given a line driver and 7channel eq.
So as you can see I have bought alot of junk, but I am hoping to make that junk sound good and hit in the low 130's. I think it would be cool to spend less than what some spend on a head unit and still hit hard.
so far I have spent $1000 on my system, have had alot of fun, met some people and the only regret is the freeway head unit.

I owned a shop in 2003-2005 and sold lots of Alpine, pioneer, PG and some Polk.. Loved the Type R subs and Polk MM subs.. ALos ran Pioneer Kevlars and Polk MM components in my cars. So got used to the sound and the price/performance of these big brands.
I was going to do a 3 way build in a Ford Fusion but that never got started, thus I purchased the DLS mids and tweets a few years ago...
Back to the present...Got a MB Cclass this summer and figured it was time to do anotherbuild so I found the DLS midbass used here ... and needed a sub too. So picked up the DLS sub as well
My Pioneer crossovers where actually purchased new on Ebay for like $35 and they were supposed to be for a home audio system for tri-amping my Klipsch LaScalas.. but the HT room never got done...:-( . you know.. wife wants new kitchen, new bathroom, new walk in closet first...
The RF 600A5 I got in 2005 for a Ford Minivan and it works great. actually have 2 of them. The RF200A4 was purchased as a match.. I like matching products...
The End.
