Good sound quaility does not depend on amp power.....but lots of power up front never hurt anybody!

It is a matter of putting your money where it does most good. Simply adding power if you have plenty already may not improve things. Your speakers may not be able to handle it anyway. Neither will your ears!.

I have 50wpc and I go deaf as it is.

I would rather have way too much power than not enough. Headroom is awesome, and we have volume controls to not deafen ourselves.

bi-amping has nothing to do with power or distortion. The out put power of you amp will not change when using a passive crossover. What it actually does is give you more control over each speaker independently. That's all.

I would like to respectfully dissagree
Proper bi or tri amping with electronic crossovers will do 3 things:
1: more control of level and crossover points for each driver
2: eliminate the passive inductors and capacitors in the crossover between the amp and speakers. This will improve the damping factor and makes for an easier speaker to drive. Especially for woofers and midbass
3: Since you do not have the full signal to amplify, but only part of the spectrum, you do not need as big an amp. 2 50wpc amps will do the work of one 200wpc amp.

"Biamping is not a simple tweak, and is not to be taken lightly. Make no mistake though, its application will improve almost any loudspeaker available, with very few exceptions."

That answers the question of this post.
