Zapco AG series amp any good?

how is the american grafitti line compare with other zapco lines
wonder if it would be a decent amp to run 6.5 utopia component
(zapco ag 350 2x100rms)
also have a 4 channel lrx audison, i was told that two of those channel is a bit not enough to run the utopias, the other component for rear fill is polyglass 6.5
help me decide which way to go?
thanks.

Ag's are good amps, They are the same as the reference line of today, or very similar... but 100 watts x 2 is a little lean for any Focal speakers, IMO... They are good speakers but they are a little power hungry.. as are most SQ speakers... Althought the zapco is a little uder rated I would expect closer to 13-140 watts rms per channel... you could bridge down the LRX 2 two channels, what model LRX is it???

IMO the any LRX audisons are a much better sounding amp than the ag 350, I can say this because I have a ag 350, that I use for playing around with... I should also ask if you are running these utopias using the passive crossovers or an active processor?
I would think that you would want at least 200 watts rms per a side on those utopia's to exert some of there potential, when running passivley...

it is actually lrx 5.600 (5ch.) and i was thinking to use only the 4 channels and like u said bi amp the component. I am using the passive corssovers
and the ag 350 would do the rear fill polyglass set.
I also have memphis 16 st300 2x75 that i can consider which i believe is not better than the ag 300.
What would you think is i close match for the utopias, i could post those amps in the classifieds for trade or just get wrid of some and go hunt for really decent 2 channel.
thanks for the replay btw!

You have too many amp from too many companies, imo... You need to sell something and get all the same brand, for cosmetic reasons... especially the caliber of speakers you have... my next question would be what driver are you using for your low end??? what amp are you using for that??? I believe that the memphis st 300 is rated for 150x2 into 4 ohms, I had one a few years back, but it was the mc 300, its the same only a newer model, your would be the chrome finish correct, mine was the black pearl... although I also had a pair of st 150's in your style as well as a 1000D. st 150's are 75x2 into 4 ohms...

The memphis amps were actually pretty nice... IMO your best bet is to use that st 300 on the utopias, that will give you probobly 18-190 rms on each side, those amps are a little under rated I found as well... It will have enough juice for what you are trying to do, more than enough... Then I would look to ebay, and try to find a st 150 for your rears, and a 500 or 1000D for your subs, although it should be mentioned that the mono amps are class D, so you will sacrafice a little SQ or your low end with those amps, not too much but a little, most people can't tell the difference anyways but I thought it should be mentioned... If it is an issue you may look at 1-2 other st 300's for your sub/subs.

You may also consider ditching those rear fill speakers and consider just concentrating on a nice front stage... If you sold all this stuff you should have more than enough money to get those other amps... IMO its a waste to use utopias, and ruin the front stage with rear fill, but thats just me...

Oh yes I forget to mention that the memphis amp sounds much nicer than the Ag 350, not likely as nice as the Audison, But the memphis will have a ton more ***** than that Audison, which in your case is more important, IMO.. espcially when running through the passives.. You will not be happy with that Audison at all, there will be no volume... And as I already said the difference will not be much in sound Q, between the 2, the Memphis may sound better in your application because of the Head Room it will provide over the Audison.

bi-amping the speakers would be the best solution. If that is possible, use the audison.

If you're not biamping, use the Zapco.
