03 Impala Deck Install

Hey guys I'm gonna be installing an aftermarket deck in my 03 Impala, now someone told me I need to wire the factory deck in the trunk for some stuff to work, is there any truth behind this. Or is it just

There is some truth to it. Gm uses a device known as a Class II databus. Part of this circuit is a chime module incorporated into the head unit. The chime module that we all love to hate incorporates the key in ignition chime, lights left on as well as others like the all important seatbelt reminder chime. In Canada it is illegal to remove a safety device from a vehicle. The seatbelt reminder chime is classified as a safety device by Transport Canada and as such must be left intact.

There are two options for you.
(1) relocate the factory radio to the trunk using the proper wire interface.
(2) remove the factory radio and add a radio deletion interface wire kit, this adds a new chime module and retains the functions of the Class II data bus.

what do they do for deaf people?

p.s. there is a light in your cluster as well for people that are not blind

also airbags are not required in vehicles that they come factory in so how much of your story is true

Hi there, I have a 2003 Monti Carlo and plan to install a new deck come this august, for help, I've downloaded the catalog from Scosche and looked at their GM1583B install kit and their DCGM09 interface module.

Now I don't know if the interface module will work or not, I haven't asked Scosche or around anywhere else yet.

that's what makes my life a horror story here in alberta, pieces of **** with resistors in the steering column to keep the srs light out.....nice stuff.
it is ILLEAGAL to remove the air bag from a factory equiped car.except for certain cases where there was a optional passenger air bag modual.
it makes people liable, if their friend borrows there car with a grant steering wheel, wraps it around a pole and screws themself up.
