Question 1x Elemental 13Kv.2 VS. 2x RE 12's ?

Hey guys, I need a new sub (or 2).
I am going to be running them off of a Excelon (KAC-X522) amp and run around 350 RMS at 4 ohms.
I am trying to choose between a pair of Resonant Engineering RE series 12" or a single Elemental Designs 13Kv.2. The box size doesn't really matter to me, and I usually prefer ported to Sealed, but the RE's prefer Sealed as far as I have seen. If anyone has any opinions or thoughts I would greatly appreciate it!

And for what it's worth, it's going into a 2002 VW golf.

Here are the links to the subs:

I would go with the Elemental Designs. They are very versitile subwoofers and pack alot of performance. Main thing behind them is the quality of sounds it reproduces.

Really depends on what you want though in a Subwoofer when comparing both.

I'm looking for something that sounds pretty good, but I want something that will be pretty loud. I have heard that the RE's hit really good for what they are, but the ED subs are pretty well known for being a decent sub. I am just unsure which to pick. I definitly like the look of the Elemental subs too.

Is 350wrms enough for a pair of REs or the ED sub? Check the rms ratings of each sub - perhaps you'll be upgrading the amp in the future, but some subs are meant for higher power handling.
Otherwise, I don't think you'll be disappointed with either sub.

Where did you get that power rating of the amp from? From what I found about that amp:

2 x 254 Watts RMS @ 2 ohms CEA-2006 rating.

So mono into 4 ohm it should be around 500rms. If this is the case dont go for the 13Kv.2, got for the 13Ov.2. Its much better. I've had both.

Yeah, it'll push 505 wrms bridged at 4ohms, but the issue is that it will run that when the voltage input is 14.7 volts which is what it receives but when it hits it drops down to 12.7v. I was looking at either doing the big 3 (how much would that help?) or maybe upgrading from 4 gauge to 0 or 2 gauge. I know that subs will handle some distortion but when comparing 300 ish watts to 500, that is a big difference and I don't need to toast another sub.

The reason why I am upgrading is that I toasted my Excelon 10". It was rated at 1000 peak, but only 250 rms. I was running at 500 wrms (set by multimeter @ 60 hz).

Help?

What size alternator are you using that 500rms draws that much amperage? I run a 1500rms system with 0 gauge power/ground and big three done in 4 gauge. My air conditioning causes more voltage drop than my system at max does on a 105amp alternator.

Personally I would look at a Mach5 MAW 15 on 350rms. And maybe save the extra cash and put it to better use.

If you get the Elemental, dont let it see a sniff of distortion.
Theyre kinda fragile in that regard.

Great subs otherwise and they hit hard on a nice clean 350 watts.
