2 1/2 far. caps near amps or one 2 far cap before powerblock?
2 1/2 far. caps near amps or one 2 far cap before powerblock?
I know even using caps are questionable but I want one just to keep steady amps and for the odd bass note that might draw a bit more amps then usual... kind of like a "security blanket".. maybe a bit tighter bass as well.
no lights dimming..
now the question... would it be better in a lower powered system to have one bigger cap just before the power distribution block for all the amps to share (around 3 1/2 feet from the 2 amps and the one powered subwoofer), or put a .5 far cap in front of the self powered subwoofer and one in front of the amp that drives the back 6x9's?(both close to the amps as possible)
the back amp runs 2x75 rms and the powered sub is 80 rms with peaks of 160 watts.
like I said I am more into sound quality (loud enough but having a very neutral "non stressed" sound from the speakers
any opinion welcomed!
thanks

would it be the bass that takes up most of the amps? even though the watts are not huge, would it be better to have a .5 cap close to all amps or just a 2 ferr. close to the sub without any other cap?
thanks

Amps powering subwoofers use the lion's share of current draw.
If you have a .5F and 2F caps to choose from, the 2F immediatley next to the sub amp would be the only tangible benefit.
(all this cap talk aside, if you can fit a 2nd battery in the trunk, it would benefit the whole system far more)

If your system is properly wired there should be no reason why you're running out of juice or your lights dimming, My last car had a 900wrm sub amp and a 200wrms speaker amp run off 4awg power wire and the big 3 upgrade and I never had lights dimming unless I cranked the amp bass boost and played hip hop till my ears started to bleed, so if you're already having power issues I'd buy an upgraded alternator/battery before I put any money into a capacitor
Not just questionable...pretty much completely useless... I have never seen any proof that they work. It's up to the people that promote, or have promoted capacitors to prove that they do anything. Not for us to prove that they don't work.
To OP: try the search function - I have yet to read anyone say anything worthwhile about a battery priced capacitor
Oh yeah thanks to the shady salesman that sold me on one 12 years ago before I had a search function or internet
Kevin if you're reading this....

It's like when you see a ford focus at a car show with two shiny nos bottles in the trunk you know they are doing more harm than good if they are actually hooked up but they sure make the car look cool, caps make it look like you've got a massive audio system when your buddies look in the trunk

There are many 4cyl Engines that have Heads, Cam(s) TB's, Intake manifolds... Ect.
There are many 4cyl Engines making 4-5-6-7 Hundred Horsepower. In fact Focuses are even used as Rally Car's.
BTW its "Nitrous Oxide" not Nos, that is a company that makes Nitrous oxide kits...
So why would that be a waste of time? Do you know if the Engine has proper tune, Engine components to support the Nitrous or any other Mods that the car may, or may not have??
No I don't own a Focus either.
