To cap or not to cap, that is the question.

To cap or not to cap, that is the question.
Recently upgraded my car audio. Currently I've got a 2 farad stinger cap.
I'm now rocking 2x JL 12w7's and 2x JL HD 750/1's.
In my car I've got a 105A max alternator (factory) I'm replacing that with a 160A idle, 200A peak alternator.
I've got the two JL Amps, and a older MTX 2 channel amp for my fronts.
Will the 2 farad cap be sufficient for long sustained bass notes? Should I just get a 20 Farad hybrid cap instead?

get a bigger batt. or add a second one. With an alt that big u should not have any issues. Also get the big 3 done and u will be in the clear. i have ran 2 American bass 500.1 of 2 small optima and did fine.

if you are looking at "long sustained bass notes" , scrap a cap completely. it will just be a drain on the system.
do you alternator upgrade and a second battery and you will be fine. and don't forget your big three

Big three was done ages ago. Been trying to milk every last mA out of my current system, lol.
Why a battery instead of a cap? Cap's to my knowledge drain/charge very quickly thus act as a perfect buffer for music.
Something like Tsunami Hybrid Capacitor 40.0-farad with Blue LCD Meter
This seems to be the best of both worlds, however I'm weary that it might just be a cheap battery with a 5 farad cap attached, and a big price tag slapped on it.
I'm not sure how much room I have for a traditional battery. With my huge *** boxes I'm already rather limited for space in the back.
I have a local optima dealer, maybe I should just go grab their smallest yellow top and go with that.
Only thought: Wont using a battery cause my amps to only see ~12.8V when the alternator is trying to catch up instead of 14.4? Whereas a cap should be able to maintain the voltage/amperage right?

your right, a cap is a decent buffer for music. for long sustained bass notes, its just a drain.
with the car off, the amps will run off the battery. seeing roughly 12.5V
with the car on, the amps will ideally run off the alternator only, seeing roughly 14V
if you are upgrading the alternator anyways, wait until you do that, see the result and start purchasing extra batteries/caps after.
