Question 2 amps

ive got an issue with hooking up 2 amps ive got my main amp which is a kenwood 1000 w mono amp for my subs i recently built a fiberglass enclosure for 6x9's and wanted to hook up a second amp for those the amp i was going to use is a craig 500w 4 channel amp i had it all hooked up but the new craig amp pulls to much power away from my kenwood so i cant hear my subs at all when the bass does hit with the kenwood it flickers the power light on the amp and sounds very weak i had it hooked up with sharing grounds and remote wires and the power wires were coming straight off the power cap......... any ideas or help is appreciated thanks

Lose the capacitor. Get your power wire as close to the amps as you can, run that to a 2 amp distribution block with a fuse for each one of appropriate rating and run a power wire to each amp from there and then ground each amp to it's own spot directly to the frame in a clean bare metal location. 1500 w RMS should be at absolute bare minimum 4 gauge across the board, I'd recommend 0 or 2 gauge for the ground and power.

Also, do the big 3 if you haven't, it literally takes 30 minutes and will improve your power flow tremendously.

Edit: Also, make sure your remote and RCA connections are tight. (Along with everything else, obviously)

Using the same gauge wire that you're running to your amps, ideally 0 or 2 gauge as previously mentioned

Alternator pos terminal to pos side of battery
Neg Side of batt to frame (usually the strut tower or the inner fender area
Neg side of batt to engine block (usually alternator mounting bolt, so long as it doesn't alter how the alternator sits in relation to the belt, if so find a bolt that's just holding something in place so it doesn't bounce around)

sounds like your shared grounds are likely the culprit. Try separate and see what happens.

How do you have the power wired? Are you going through a distrobution block for your power? What gauge of power wire are you using?

got this problem figured out i took the power cap off put in a distribution block and still had the same problem then i thought maybe having 2 different size ground wires was the problem one amp had a 0 gauge and the other amp had an 8 gauge ground so i switched it so they both have 8's and now it works with no surges at all thanks for any and all help everyone
