Greetings...

We are looking at doing a custom install on a 2006 mustang (the vehicle is currently on order). We are looking for some suggestions/ideas [or possibly things to avoid].

1. there appears to be a 8 inch factory subwoofer in the front doors [both front passenger & driver side]. I am looking for some specs on these factory subs. Things like handling pwr & mounting depth, etc. [i don't know the factory mounting depth yet, but I'll bet it is not very deep, so if someone can assist that would help]
Has anyone done an install on this type of vehicle? Has anyone replaced the factory 8" subs with something that has a little more kick? One ford site says that the sub is ported? [when i looked at the door it does not appear to be ported, but heh, I could be wrong]. What is out there these days for a decent 8" door subwoofer that will fit this application?

2.the door speakers appear to be 4 by 6 in the front door panels & 6 by 9 in the rear door panels; can anybody verify this? any upgrade ideas?

3. We are looking to add some front imaging to our system by upgrading the entire system, and adding some 6.5 seperates upfront. are there any "kick panels" being offered for sale that would install into the mustang so that it does not alter the factory mounting. {perhaps the floor area, by the bottom of the door?}

All thoughts/suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks very much.....

2005 2006 Mustang- Door Panels - & Door Subs

Here It Is.
The 2005 2006 Mustang Takes 5 By 7 Speakers In Front And Rear.
6 By 9's Will Not Fit.
The Front Doors Have An 8 Inch Sub, But They Are The *****.
I Upgraded My Subs & Amp.
For Those Of You Who May Wish To Do The Same, You Need To Know This.
Most 8 Inch Subs Are 4 Inches Deep Or More.
You Can Put An 8 Inch Sub With 3.5 Inch Depth In The Doors But The Door Panels Will Require Minor Modifications.
For Those Of You Who Want Some Better Thump, Go To A Sub With A 4 Inch Mounting Depth.
You Will Have To Do Some Cutting Of The Factory Door Panels, And A Little Metal Cutting Of The Actual Door, But They Should Fit.
My Recomendation Would Be To Use Punch P2 8 Inch Subs.
I Went With Mtx's 8 Inch And They Are O.k. [only 3 .5 Inch Deep].
For The Marginal Price Difference, I Would Recommend Anyone Doing An 8 Inch Upgrade On The Mustang Door Panel To Go With Punch Subs.
There Are A Whole Bunch More Out There Aswell, But In Canada The 8 Inch Sub Market Is Very Limited, I Had To Drive To Seattle To Get My Subs.
Note: I Have A Convertible; I Would Not Recommend Doing A Trunk Sub> You Wont Hear It. Put 8 Inch Punches In The Front Doors, Dynamat The Doors & You Will Get More Bang For Your Buck.. Not To Mention Keeping Some Trunk Space For Other Things!

A friend of mine completed a Mustang for Infinity last summer. He used Infinity 8s in the doors and only had to make minor modifications. Ultimately they were used only for midbass though as there were woofers in the trunk also.

really? I thought the P2 8's sounded horible... the 10, and 12" flavors are ok for the price, but the 8's IMO. There are so many other options out there for that application, other than the P2's
