i have installed an aftermarket alarm into a 99 4 dr bmw 3 series and when i arm the alarm about 10 seconds later the parking lights will continuously flash. i think it is the factory alarm? even when i disconect my park light wire it still does this. anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried to unlock the doors??
This will shut down any OEM Alarm systems. Try both doors to make sure

You may need a SoundGate module, that interfaces with the onboard system to lock/unlock the central locking system.

if i unlock the doors with the key or factory remote while the aftermarket alarm is armed it sets off the alarm right away because it turns the dome light on. But that does stop the flashing. Can i just completely disconnect the factory alarm?

The module tells the factory computer to activate the door locks, which activates the alarm, which the computer needs to see.
or lock the doors manually before the alarm arms.

Does the red light under the mirror (the "clown nose") flash when the car is locked with the factory remote? Does it "beep" when locked? Is there a module in the small pod in the center of the roof liner? If any or all of these things are true, then there is a factory OEM alarm.

It is also possible that the ECU has been programmed to think there is an OEM alarm - this is possible. The only other option here is to bring it to BMW and have them put it on the computer to check if the alarm is activated. That's gonna cost labour though.

Also where did you tap for the light flash? Did you use the relay trick at the light module? (I have two E46s and did an alarm install in one of them, maybe I can help.)

it has the light under the mirror, im pretty sure that it has the factory alarm. for the light flash i went to the ribbon cable in the light module.
