Advise needed on new Car audio setup...First build!

Heya All

Any advise/concerns to bear in mind??

Looking at setting up first build in my car, have been contemplating the following hardware/components.

Digital Design CM1000 1000w rms
Digital Designs 1012D 4 12" Subwoofer 500w rms
Alpine CDA-117Ri CD/MP3/USB/iPod Player
------7 Band Graphic EQ or 5 Band Parametric EQ
------High Pass Filter

Polk Audio DXi5250 5.25" Splits 100w rms
Polk Audio DB691 6x9" Coaxial 3Way 125w rms
Polk Audio PA660 4 Channel 75Wx4 RMS Amplifier
12' Vinyl SSG Subwoofer Box
Stinger SK4641 4Ga Power+Signal Wiring kit

Here are my questions...

With using the above mentioned kit, do i still need ....

- a 3 way crossover?
- Capacitor?
- Pre amp, or will head unit suffice for control/tuning system

Also anyone have any negatives to share around my choice of Polk Audio for Spilts/rear speaker combo??

Can I go wrong with DD sub and MONO combo selected?

Figured amp will allow for growth if ever needed, personal soft spot for DD!!!!:banghead:

Any thoughts/help wil be much appreciated, want to get install going this week if possible.

Thanks in advance

Not a fan of Polk Audio. its not horrible, just not my favorite brand. I feel that for the price you can get better stuff.

what kind of car?

Caps usually are not necessary. you are better off with upgrading the "big 3" and then getting a bigger alternator if needed. Caps were misused for so many years that they have gotten a bad reputation. They serve a purpose, but not in your setup.

Are you asking about getting an active crossover? your deck should have all outputs needed for your amps. if you are asking about a passive crossover then your speakrs should come with whatever they need. not sure what you mean by splits...are those components?

are you installing this yourself or having it done?

Overall, that setup should be much better than factory (again, not sure what car this is going into). you probably could do better for the money, but that could be said almost 100% of the time.
