Have you tried using a muting plug?

How are the amps bolted down?

 

If Mr Navone was there helping with the install he would tell you that in most cases when noise is a problem, the problem is the gear and not the install.... you can fart around with rcas and ground points all you want... but you arn't going to get anywhere if you are running equipment that has poor signal isolation....


that said changing the HU might fix the problem..

if that dosen't work (many decks/amps are prone to noise!) or you don't feel like buying a new deck I suggest you give an isolation transformer another look...

if you don't want to go that route there are several ways to skin the same cat... infact the best fix IMO is to go with an isolated supply for your deck.....

 

When I got whine, it usually was because some part of the amplifier or EQ was touching or in contact through screws to the vehicule chassis.

Make sure your amp doesnt touch any metal part of the car, and that no screws that touch your amp also touch any metal on the car.

 

It is the Pioneer head unit unfortunately. Really **** poor circuit design and has been for over 20 years. You can try attaching a new ground wire to the shield of the rca cables at the cd player. This may solve the problem for you but in my opinion it is still a bandaid. If it were me, it would be a totally different brand cd player.

 

^ LOL - I had just 3 questions for him.

1) Is the battery full, clean, and in good shape?
2) Is it a Honda?
3) Is the deck a Pioneer?

I find those are 3 of the big ones...

 

It could have been a 85 Ford pickup as well Paul....

 

its not just pioneer hu's that are prone to noise.....

 

You know it.. Especially with a tape deck..
