Maybe we should just arrange a meeting place out in left field? \

If it has to be one of the three go for the pioneer

Haunz,

There are many Rockford amps in service and new on retailers shelves that have efficiency in the 65%/66%/67% range and they are most certainly class AB topology.

i don't think the efficiency and heatsink efficeny are the same thing
efficiency has more to do with biasing and powersupply and output design

Efficiency is quite simple to understand.....

An amplifier that is 60% efficient turns 60% of the current it draws into wattage, the other 40% into heat.

Heat-sink efficiency would be the rate at which the heat-sink is capable of dissipating heat. When talking about heat-sink efficiency, constant dissipation and surge capability are often noted.

how would you rate this amp? i hope i can get it tho i know this is the best choice, but how much should i pay for it!

Kenwood kac-x401m
Maximum Output Power: 1200 Watts x 1

Power Output at 2 Ohms, at 12V (1kHz, 0.5% THD): 400 Watts x 1

Power Output at 2 Ohms, at 14.4V (1kHz, 0.5% THD): 600 Watts x 1

Power Output at 4 Ohms, at 12V (20Hz-20kHz, 0.05% THD): 200 Watts x 1

Power Output at 4 Ohms, at 14.4V (20Hz-20kHz, 0.05% THD): 300 Watts x 1

2 ohm stable
how do i set to 12V or 14.4V? because if I want to get the best out of this amp, then i should go with 2 Ohms, at 14.4V (1kHz, 0.5% THD): 600 Watts x 1, right?

That last amp (Kenwood 401M) will give each of your subs 300 wrms. Just what you are looking for (more power is better than less).

Ignore the above debate about efficiency . . . it doesn't answer your question and it is in left field. Thanks Haunz

Don't look at 2 channel amps. Look at Mono amps.
What are you reasons for only looking at Kenwood and Pioneer?

thanks for the help maltesechicken
i hope i can get this amp, i might end up paying $200-250 for it which is relatively cheap, considering it sells for $400 US

the reason i look for pioneer/kenwood and such is because they are cheap (brand name, but cheap),other than the amp, everything else i'll have is higher end (infinity: subs, 6.5 components, 6x9 3ways...) its all infinity in my car

I disagree.. you should most definatly considering effeciency when looking for an amp...

As far as how effecient RFs amps really are.. Iam still not buying.. I think you guys should pay less attention to marketing fluff...

I'll see if I can find some diffinitive info, but as I recall reading (more then once) the theoretical maximum for an AB class amp is %78 at complete saturation, and %66 just below saturation...

In practice most AB amps are well below %50 running typical program material..
