Amp getting real hot

My amp is getting real hot i can't figure out why. Any help would be great. Thanks. i checked the power wire and every thing was good. i redid the ground wire and made sure that the paint was sanded off. the ground wire is about 1 to 1.5 feet long. All wiring is 4 gauge. All the fuses are the proper ones. The amp is a sony explode xm 1002hx set to 2-4 ohms and the sub is a clarion SRW1245 wired to 4 ohms. and the amp still gets pretty hot. i dont know what else i can check or do.

Is it shutting down on you or going into protection? How have you installed it?

Perhaps the gains are a bit high.

But some amps just get hot, my RF power 1100a2 comes to mind, that's what they do. I dont know for sure with that model but if it's not shutting down or lowering the volume on you then I don't think I would worry to much since you seem to have good power and ground to it.

im not sure i'd worry much, if its in a smallish un ventilated space of course its going to get hot, when it start shutting down just get some fans for airflow, i know my fosgate got almost to hot to the touch.
